Today marks 20 years service @Girtongolfclub for myself. Massive thanks to head greenkeepers Ian Hankin for showing me the way all these years and putting up with me. Thanks to the directors, staff and our lovely members.
We are looking forward to welcoming our friends from the Hornets and other sides from the local community on Saturday afternoon for what should be a great occasion.
Nearly been hit 3 times today with a golf ball. Obviously angry that the course was shut due to flooding. I was visible on all 3 occasions and was doing my best to get out of the way. On the last occasion I was asked why I chose to be on the hole they were on.
Another lovely mornings golf at the club this morning. Sometimes it’s good to be a greenkeeper and see all our hard work first hand. May not have played that great but the course was playing really well. The company maybe, but they were all members and did not moan to much. ⛳️⛳️
Why is this happening. Out for a lovely evening round at work and all I see is bunkers not raked. A full rake on bunkers Friday and green side today. Mostly members playing and women’s club day today. It’s not fair on the greenstaff.
No words yet again. What has happened to course etiquette or even want to help are fellow members out and rake your bunker once you have played. You wouldn’t want to land in a foot print would you. #usetherake
Had the chance this morning to test out the course and to see all our work over the winter months. The course was in great shape and a simple double roll using the greens mower yesterday and again today, the greens were as true and quick as I have known them for a long time.
