After the ivy bee (Colletes hederae) walk on Sunday at Beach lawns (Waterloo) expert Phil Smith has sent some brilliant images. Including two of a male ivy bee, greyer in colour and longer antennae. The female is more ginger and has pollen collected on her.

Thankyou to everyone who came along to Marine Garden yesterday and helped make our Annual Fete a success.
A special thanks to those who helped set up and clear away, especially the morning session who were out early in the rain getting everything ready.
Another bat walk at Botanic Gardens Southport on Friday. We heard lots of Common Pipistrelle's and Daubenton's. Next Friday's final walk at Derby park Bootle is already fully booked.
Seabirds & waders are becoming exhausted & unable to feed in these strong winds
Many, like this Guillemot, are too tired to fly away if you (or your dog) approaches
Keep dogs on lead & leave them in peace

Exhausted seabirds including Leach's Petrels are being blown onto the Sefton Coast now by strong westerly winds - please give them space & keep dogs well away.

The Natural Alternatives team have had quite a workout today at Ainsdale Village Park, helping the volunteers by shovelling and spreading what felt like an endless pile of woodchips around the trees which are recovering from the recent bout of dry weather πͺπ³
