As for the "creating a sound that would become popular a decade later", the 1st wave of Grime pretty much waned the moment BIDC came out. It wouldn't be until Dizzee pivots to making electro-house pop songs after his 2nd album Showtime comes out that he would break through.
Dizzee did not produce Boy In Da Corner by himself: Cage, who rarely gets mentioned when this album is discussed, essentially produced every song for him at his studio which had a lot of the popular synth and sampler racks of the time. Not one single PS1 was used on this album.
the concept of producing every song on the album with this type of beat by yourself at 16 with a PS1, creating a sound that wouldnt become popular until a decade later
Waited since 2019 for something to come of this beat when I first heard it on Drake's post about his CargoJet deal... Beyond spoiled https://t.co/hzIk98KYsQ
