📢 Top retailers are facing legal action for making vague or misleading environmental claims about their products in the German market without the proof to back them up.
German NGO @umwelthilfe (DUH) has filed injunctions against five companies in total, including Tchibo and Deichman, for promoting products as “sustainable” or “climate-friendly” without offering clear, verifiable evidence.
And this is just the beginning! DUH has made it clear they won’t hesitate to take further legal action and are already investigating other companies.
Consumers deserve transparency, not empty buzzwords! 🌱💚We stand with this crucial effort to hold brands accountable and make sure sustainability claims actually mean something.

Last week, we marked 10 years of the Changing Markets Foundation, and what a journey it’s been.
Since day one, we’ve worked to expose corporate #greenwashing and drive systemic change across sectors: from #fashion to #food to #plastic. But none of it would’ve been possible without the partners, campaigners, and allies who’ve stood with us.
At our 10-year celebration in London, hosted by the brilliant @laura_sullivan, we took a moment to reflect on the power of collaboration. We heard moving speeches from our founder Joakim Bergman and CEO @nusha_u, as well as from a number of our NGO and investigative partners who’ve played a key role in shaping our campaigns.
We also launched our commemorative anniversary book created by @hannah_voak: a look back at the fights we’ve taken on, the lessons we’ve learned, and the change we’ve created together.
To everyone who’s been part of this story, thank you. Here's to the next chapter. 🩵
@Tesco love to show off its electric delivery vans... but what about the emissions it doesn't like to talk about?
A new report reveals that Tesco, like all major supermarkets, doesn’t report its methane emissions or set clear reduction targets.
This is a problem because methane is a climate super-pollutant - 80x more powerful than CO2 in the short term - and supermarkets play a huge role in producing it.
The Methane Action Tracker by @changingmarkets and @StandMighty assessed global supermarkets on their climate commitments. Tesco came top but with a score of just 51/100 it’s still far from a climate champion. If this is the ‘best’, what does that say about the rest?
It’s time for supermarkets to stop greenwashing and start taking climate action that really matters.

Copenhagen Fashion Week and 7 brands face a formal complaint for greenwashing. Despite its "sustainable" image, critics say CFW’s rules are weak and poorly enforced. If top fashion events don’t demand real change, how can we trust their claims? Will CFW act or keep #greenwashing?
A formal complaint has been filed against Copenhagen Fashion Week (CFW) and seven participating brands, accusing them of misleading sustainability claims.
Despite being hailed as one of fashion’s most sustainable event, the Danish Consumer Council (Forbrugerrådet Tænk) and anti-greenwashing firm Continual argue that CFW’s sustainability rules are weak and poorly enforced.
🔎 What’s the issue?
- CFW has 19 sustainability requirements for brands, including a Code of Conduct and a rule that at least 60% of materials must be recycled or certified.
- The complaint alleges CFW does not properly check if brands comply.
- Many brands still use vague terms like “responsible” or label synthetic fabrics as "green."
CFW promotes brands as sustainable without enough proof.
If fashion’s most high-profile “sustainable” event isn’t enforcing real change, it risks misleading consumers, weakening industry standards, and letting brands off the hook.
Will CFW address these concerns, or is it just another example of greenwashing in the industry?

Dairy giant Arla is selling #climate fairytales. The company brags about ‘sustainability’ but it spends more on marketing its green image than actually cutting its emissions! We’re not buying this greenwashing. Tell them they’ve been found out - sign here: https://t.co/97w2NfzXR7
#ParisFashionWeek is here—but why are the big brands showing off plastic clothes? 👗 French luxury giants @LVMH and @Keringgroup make a big fuss about sustainable fashion... But when it comes to their use of fossil fuel-based synthetic materials, they’re silent.
"Almost 70% of all textiles are made from synthetics—meaning the majority of what we wear is made from fossil fuels.” – Urska Trunk, Senior Campaigner at Changing Markets Foundation
In the latest InFocus podcast by @fairplanet, Urška breaks down the findings of our latest investigation into fashion’s plastic addiction.
🔍 Why do fast fashion brands keep pushing plastic-based materials?
🔍 What tactics do they use to sidestep real accountability?
🔍 And why is even Patagonia on the red list?
The reality: plastic fuels the relentless growth of fast fashion, and without stronger regulations, brands will continue to greenwash their way out of responsibility.

🐮 How Big Meat and Dairy Distract, Delay, and Derail Climate Action
The meat and dairy industry uses advertising and greenwashing to distract from its massive role in global heating. Industrial animal agriculture is one of the biggest contributors to methane emissions—a gas 80 times more potent than CO2 over 20 years.
🎙️ In the latest @adfreecities 'Better Without Billboards' podcast, our Senior Campaigner Caitlin Smith speaks with Nicola Wilks about how Big Meat & Dairy not only delays climate progress but actively encourages us to eat more meat and dairy. How they target Gen-Z with social media ads and influencer campaigns to drive overconsumption, even in countries already consuming too much, fuelling climate breakdown and harming public health.
Hear why holding these industries accountable and embracing plant-rich diets is essential for tackling the climate crisis.

Tired of brands claiming they’re “eco-friendly” without the receipts? The Green Claims Code developed by @CMAgovUK is a quick and handy way to check for greenwashing.
Here’s what to look for:
- Clear: Are the claims simple and straightforward, or full of fluff?
- Accurate: Are they backed by real evidence, or just marketing spin?
- Substantiated: Can they actually prove what they’re saying?
Swipe to see all six checks! 👉
Companies must stop making dodgy claims if we're going to make any progress. Check out our greenwash archive to see real examples of companies caught in the act: https://t.co/dzuAishqef

JBS - the world’s largest meat producer, with emissions rivalling nations like the UAE - is facing criticism for backpedalling on its 2040 #netzero pledge. What was once touted as a "global commitment" is now being called an "aspiration"—leaving no concrete accountability for their massive environmental impact.
Our Senior campaigner Alma Castrejon-Davila criticised the meat giant in a recent article for Food Manufacture, saying “This recent change of mind proves JBS exploited its pledge to boost sustainability credentials, with no real intention to reduce emissions.” Read here: https://t.co/wuelm6sWg5
Adding to the controversy, JBS' commitment was removed from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) last year, showing why voluntary, non-binding climate commitments simply aren’t enough.
It’s time for action. To protect the planet and stay within the 1.5°C limit, we need enforceable regulations to hold corporations accountable.

Think you know the climate impact of Big Dairy?
Here’s a shocking fact: @Nestle has the 5th highest greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the entire meat and dairy industry, according to our research.
Many of these companies emit more greenhouse gases than entire countries. But which country does Nestlé emit more than?
Drop your guesses below, and we’ll reveal the answer soon! And if you think this level of pollution is unacceptable, sign our petition with @StandMighty on @Eko_Movement telling Nestlé to come clean about its climate-damaging methane emissions: https://t.co/3O4yPL4oSj
As wildfires rage across the Palisades, California, and beyond, the human and environmental cost is staggering—and we're thinking of the thousands of people affected at this time.
The reality is that the climate crisis is fueling the flames. Methane, a potent greenhouse gas, is a major driver of global heating, and industrial dairy farms are some of the largest contributors.
California’s massive dairy operations release vast amounts of methane into the atmosphere, accelerating the conditions that make disasters like this more frequent and intense.
We cannot afford to ignore the role of Big Meat & Dairy in this crisis. It’s time to hold these industries accountable for their outsized impact on the planet—and on people’s lives.
