Climate and Financial Literacy Session | Z.P. School, Khupari

As part of our ongoing partnership with India Development Service, Green Yatra recently conducted a Climate & Financial Literacy Session for students of 7th and 8th Standard at Z.P. School, Khupari, Wada, #Palghar.

The session encouraged students to understand how their everyday choices can contribute to a more sustainable future, while also introducing them to essential financial knowledge from an early age.

Every participating student received a sustainability kit to turn lessons into actions. The day wrapped up with healthy snacks for the students.

A big shout out to India Development Services, USA (IDS) for investing in the next generation of environmentally conscious and informed citizens.

Once a degraded land, Shri Gopinath Munde Garden has been transformed through Green Yatra’s restoration efforts into a green space that pollinators and birds now call home. On a recent visit to the site, the team spotted sunbirds, flower peckers and 7 species of bees at work, alongside nesting of birds like Baya Weavers and Silver Bills. A living example of how biodiversity thrives when a space is given back to nature.

Spider-Man protects the city, real spiders help protect the balance of nature.

Tiny spiders can use "ballooning" to travel through the atmosphere. They release silk threads that catch air currents and can carry them kilometres away, sometimes even across oceans.

Beyond their aerial feats, spiders quietly regulate pest populations, support pollination cycles and hold entire food webs together. On Green Yatra's project sites, they are a sign of a thriving, balanced ecosystem.

No cape. No city to save. Just an ecosystem to keep in balance, one thread at a time.

This is the story of Shri Gopinath Munde Garden.

For two years during the pandemic, it went quiet. No maintenance, no care, no one watching it struggle.

@Greenyatra returned to rebuild it from the soil up: de-weeding, soil rehabilitation, nearly 20,000 saplings, with 160+ native species.

Interventions like miyawaki forest, lawn, bamboo arboretum, native flowering, rare & endangered tree species bank, state tree gallery, colorful tree cluster, yoga zone, meditation zone, peace zone, cultural van and much more went into transforming this space into a public urban forest.

Special thanks to Pune Municipal Corporation for the hardscape, open gym, pathways, and children's play area.

It is projected to sequester over 4 lakh kg of CO₂ and now welcomes visitors every day, just outside Saswad.

Some recoveries take three years. All of them start with someone deciding to come back.

50+ Kotak volunteers turned up last week at our Oxygen Park in Narol, Ahmedabad to be part of Green Yatra's Urban Ecosystem Restoration efforts.

The site now stands at 74,231 saplings across 180+ native species, raised through the Miyawaki method, and home to distinct green spaces including a xerophytic garden, herbal garden, pollinator garden, aromatic garden, botanical garden, native grassland, fireflies garden, bamboo plot, sacred groves and a local forest.

Heartfelt thanks to Himanshu Nivsarkar, Sonam Dumbre and the entire @KotakBankLtd team for their energy and commitment in making this plantation drive a success.

Ahmedabad added 101 new oxygen parks to its skyline this week, and Green Yatra's Swapna Sanket site is one of them.

3,500 saplings planted, with years of shade, oxygen and biodiversity to come.

Long-term monitoring is the least glamorous part of ecological restoration. Nobody sponsors it. Nobody photographs it. 18 years ago, Green Yatra began with a belief that Indian cities green could be restored. The belief was never the hard part.

A restored forest changes the water beneath it. It slows runoff, recharges aquifers, and returns moisture to soil that had forgotten what it felt like. At Green Yatra, restoration has never been limited to what grows above the ground. 25+ water bodies. 305 crore litres conserved.
