Celebrate @dougwmize’s 10 year anniversary here! We've loved having him! We've enjoyed 10 years of expository preaching, sports jokes, a pastor who knows your name, 80s music citations, @JanetMize13 beautiful singing & 10 years of seeing as girls turn into wonderful young ladies!

This weekend is 10 years since we first came to @GreerFirst. My first words of my sermon were, "Jesus Christ will be the focus of everything we do here." I've found this to be why we've been so blessed. Here are a few other things we know to be true:
1. Many times God calls His people to a hard road so He can glorify Himself & bless His people. Maybe you're going through a difficult challenge. Be encouraged as you put your eyes on Jesus. He may do something so amazing only He gets all the credit for!
2. Strive for Church Health instead of Church Growth and you'll get growth as a bonus. In 10 years we've seen our attendance and giving more than triple. Two weeks ago on Easter we had over 1000 on campus. The last few years our people have given millions so to update our campus. And all the while we've supported more missions giving every single year, not less. But we've never worked for numbers but focused on health & transparency. All the while keeping our resolute goal to lift up the name of Christ.
3. God brings the right people in your life at the right time to accomplish His purposes. I cannot describe all the wonderful people God has sent to us along the way. From people who've worked on our staff team to the people in our church who've served and encouraged us, our hearts are full of gratitude. These 10 years have all been God's doing and we give Him all the praise.

A sad day as I preached my stepmom’s funeral-a dear lady. One blessing was @kevezell filling our @GreerFirst pulpit on short notice. Why? To help this grieving pastor & bless my church. And our church absolutely loved today. Remember, pastors need friends. Thanks Kevin. @NAMB_SBC
