We are out of Massachusetts and will be relocating to the desert southeast. Taxes on my new home $2,700 vs. $12,000 in the Boston suburbs. Heat, electricity, landscaping, pool maintenance and more, the list goes on. Throw in the weather being gloomy and cold 9 months a year and it makes no sense to stay.
