@rightbrainlaw @lawclerklegal Completely agree, my firm is still 90% hourly billing because it’s the most profitable. We lawyers are too smart to undermine our own profit. But leverage (technology, and the gig economy/virtual associates) are ways to get more done with less overhead. We can do better.

@rightbrainlaw @lawclerklegal It’s not disruption via tech that’s necessary, but our business model needs updating. We can drive down costs and widen access, yet protect our profit and margins through evolution (and likely disruption). Tech is the lever, not the goal.

Having built and run multiple firms, my experience is very much that litigators live in a world of precedent and zero sum analysis (and I am a litigator). Over generalization, but lit isn’t driving change in the business model.
