Hey @espn “I don’t know what that is. It’s a handsome headpiece. Sure. Why wouldn’t you”
Scott Van Pelt, ESPN @ESPNNFL@Sionan_Barrett
My work isn’t done. I will make a more extensive effort to explain why I wear this type. My Great-grandfathers went to prison for practicing our culture. The American and Canadian governments banned it for 100 years. My forefathers would use apple crate boxes to dance and then burn the evidence. Police confiscated the original headdresses and sold them to museums.
I wear this design with immense pride, grateful our tribe survived and our culture flourished.
The Seahawks logo was COPIED off a headdress from my tribe: the Kwakwakaʼwakw on northern Vancouver Island. A local Coast Salish artist, Marvin Oliver, submitted a design, but the Seahawks did not pick it in 1975.

Astros booth trying to create a false narrative that the Mariners have a “history” and “reputation” for this kind of thing.
Meanwhile HOU have hit SEA batters 15 times this year (compared to 7 the other way). Also worth mentioning the brawl was instigated by Angels/Nevin.
