@CraigMedy2 That's where I lean; the core (especially Manny and Xander) aren't getting any younger. And frankly, they need to keep Schoolcraft and Mayfield; they're in our rotation by 2028.
You can forgive a bad week, and even a bad month of hitting. But with the team dead last in nearly every major hitting category, it couldn't be clearer: Stephen Souza Jr. is not working out as the #Padres hitting coach.
He has to go.
So the #Padres, totally unprovoked, beaned Gunnar Henderson.
Wrong. They were retaliating for Xander Bogaerts getting hit on the batting helmet.
Teams have retaliated against each other since forever.
Facts are stubborn things.
I am pleased to see Padres reliever Ron Marinaccio (3 games) and manager Craig Stammen (1 game) both suspended and fined for this cheap shot - Gunnar Henderson could have been seriously injured.
Unfortunately, this is the Padres' way. This type of behavior doesn't surprise me.
