Offseason Tape 🎬
Greg Jones (Sr, 6’6”) - 12.5 PPG | 4.8 RPG | 2.0 APG | 1.0 SPG | 40.5 FG% | American | Alexandria, VA
A true winner with ideal length on the wing, Jones brings a steady presence to the court.
Plays with downhill aggression—attacking the rim, embracing contact, and finishing through it. Better from three than numbers suggest.
Defensively, he’s a versatile piece who can guard multiple spots, using his size and feel to impact the game.
Checks every box you want in a modern 3&D wing and will be a leader in year 4 for @AU_MBasketball.

American forward Greg Jones will return to play for head coach Duane Simpkins & staff, per source.
Jones entered the transfer portal on Tuesday.
Big news for Simpkins retaining Jones, who averaged 10.3PPG & 3.9RPG for last year’s Patriot League 🏆 group.
In a comeback victory against Lafayette, American University's Greg Jones (@gregjones47) stepped up when the Eagles needed him most. With Matt Rogers struggling, the 6'6" sophomore exploded, not just filling the void, but igniting the Eagles' offense with a blend of confident finishing, shooting, and clutch free throws.
Jones, a lean, long-limbed gem, isn't just physically gifted. He's a defensive menace, earning his Patriot League All-Defensive stripes with his switchability, relentless hustle, active hands, and closeout speed. Jones has been great all year averaging 10.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal on efficient 50% field goal and 44% three-point shooting are more than just numbers. They're a testament to his evolving game. He slices through defenses with long, deceptive strides and stretches the floor with deadly three-pointers.
Jones has the potential to be a crucial contributor with his 3&D speciality. His blend of size, length, and growing offensive skillset screams "modern day wing," a player capable of disrupting on one end and adapting to any offensive situation on the other. @CoachDSimpkins has a genuine talent, and as American University heads into the Patriot League Championship semifinals, Greg Jones is poised to continue to shine.

He used to wear 23, but he’ll always be PG1 in our hearts. One of AU’s best ever, Eli Stephens!
