Be an Athlete

Part of being a punter is embracing the fact that you’re walking toward the people who are trying to block the punt and take you out.

You have to stay focused. You have to stay smooth. You have to stay under control in chaos.

It’s natural to want to bail in that situation, but you need to stay locked in and committed to the rep. Many times in my career, I felt like the protection could’ve been better, but I had to control what I could control — sit in that pocket, stay focused, and hit the best ball possible.

Don’t forget — you are a football player. Yeah, you might be a punter or kicker, but you are still a football player. Be tough. Sit in that pocket. If you get hit, get back up and go do it again.

Coach Jeff Arnold was a 4x All-PSAC and All-Region player for IUP, making 46 starts at center.

As a coach, he has guided the RBs to over 7,700 yards rushing. This guy knows how to move mountains.
