MLK was hated in the 1960s. Sixty-three percent of Americans, according to Gallup Polling, had a negative rating of MLK in 1966. He was hated for wanting equal rights. Hated for wanting jobs. Hated for wanting to end wars. Hated for wanting low-income people to come together.
Many of today’s activists, organizers, and protesters are hated too. Thank you MLK and thank you to those who continue to be freedom fighters today despite being hated. #ThankYou#MLK
“You always told me ‘It takes time.’
It’s taken my father’s time, my mother’s time, my uncle’s time, my brothers’ and my sisters’ time.
How much time do you want for your progress?”
-James Baldwin
