Mitochondria often explore the entirety of a cell over time. This is a color time projection of mitochondria in two cells. It makes them cooler than the endoplasmic reticulum. Mitochondria do not need to be everywhere all the time to still be everywhere.

A good example of the perspective of many non-experts, due to the non-scientific way the field gets presented. Yes, it's arrogant to make blanket comments about a field you don't work in, but it's not uncommon & does reflect the challenge we face in the scientific community
