The College Football Playoff Committee has 0 consistency in rankings 📠

Here’s some numbers for proof:

*Before you say “G5 is different that P5” read this*

I’m sure you all remember UCF’s undefeated 2017 season 🥇

However the Playoff committee felt their resume wasn’t worthy of a playoff spot 🤔

Not only were they not worthy of a playoff spot, but according to the rankings, they didn’t even deserve a top 11 spot 😮

#5 11-2 Ohio State 🅾️
#8 10-2 USC ✌️
#9 10-2 Penn State 🦁
#10 10-2 Miami 🌀

UCF played 11 regular season games due to some cancellations

Overall Opponent record was 68-62

Eye test didn’t apply to them I guess 🤦‍♂️

Now let’s look at this year:

FSU has played an overall opponent record of 67-76 yet is number 4 in the country and undefeated

Oregon has played an overall opponent record of 72-72 and is number 5 with 1 loss

Additionally, Texas & Alabama are ranked behind Oregon with the same record (11-1)

Texas Overall Opponent record: 81-63
Alabama Overall Opponent record:
85-59

Seems to me like eye test only applies to a certain number of teams

And if G5 is so much worse than P5, why is the overall opponent record better? 🧐
