This past February, UMass Amherst held a “Digital Equity & Inclusion Week” to look at ways the campus can be more technically inclusive and accessible.
Maybe the UMN system could do something similar?

@lastbastian Exactly! There’s more facets to the #DigitalDivide than what’s thought of on the surface. While we may not be able to fully bridge the whole gap, gains can be made in many areas

This is a great recording of a SXSW2023 session on how we can increase #DigitalEquity for young people of color to have access and skills needed for future work opportunities.

@hallom161 I think it’s great that guides are being created to help people put themselves out on social media for their career. I just worry that it will create “cookie cutter” profiles… make sure you add some personality to stand out from the crowd!

@fahey174school I agree that AI will be a heavily used tool by HR departments in the near future. They’re already using software to filter candidates by their résumé’s/CVs and information they put into the online application tool. This is the next step.

Put your best self on Social Media… employers ARE looking!
Some good info for your content.
“About 1 in 5 employers in The Harris Poll’s survey said they won’t call a person for an interview if they can’t find them online.”

It’s not enough to simply say we need to educate children to be better Digital Citizens using Digital Literacies. We need to “train the trainer” and provide them the tools and support. That’s where @CommonSenseEd comes in!

@rukminia25 Using DO instead of DON’T is very key. Positive language promotes options and success. A football coach once told me to think “I will make the tackle” instead of “I won’t miss the block”. It stuck with me ever since!
