@reich656 I agree, this meeting does seem pretty cool. It is nice to know that cities like St. Louis are setting up meetings like this to help promote digital inclusion. We need all governments, starting with local governments, to begin taking steps and having initiatives like this.
On #GirlsinICT day, let's remember that lack of digital skills is a major obstacle to achieving digital gender equality. To bridge the gender #DigitalDivide, we must take action and equip girls with #DigitalSkillsForLife
Comcast is committed to closing the #DigitalDivide in the communities we serve. 8th graders of Planada’s Cesar Chavez Middle School were surprised w/ free laptops & school supplies. Comcast is investing $4.5 million to further expand our #Xfinity10G network in these rural areas.
3 actions the #DCO Member States and Observers are taking to bridge the #DigitalDivide:
1️⃣ Connect all relevant stakeholders
2️⃣ Advance innovative ideation
3️⃣ Translate ideas into actionable initiatives
#DigitalInclusion is essential to create an inclusive digital economy
@reich656 This is a very interesting video and highlights the existing digital divide in third-world countries, like Nigeria. The lack of internet & computers in areas like this is something that needs to be addressed as we strive for digital equity in the world.
@Garyoptionlover I agree! As the world as we know it is being reshaped by technology, it is crucial for various aspects of the world to have digital equity, especially the economy. As jobs and financial obligations have an increasing need for digital proficiency, it is very essential.
@Saawndruh Very interesting statistics! I am glad to see how popular LinkedIn is, especially after learning more about the opportunities social media provides for professional networking & career development. It is important for us as students joining the workforce to take advantage of it.
@curra140 Hi Grace,
Very interesting find! It is crazy to see how social media has affected so many parts of the world, in this case, it's professional recruiting. 92% is such a large majority. I am excited to see how this changes as social media and technology continue to evolve.
@mccan329 This was a very useful article, thanks for sharing! Some of the biggest benefits I have seen using LinkedIn as a student are connecting with other college students around the country with similar interests as well as alumni and other related professionals in my field of interest.
This is a video from a series revolving around training to become a certified public accountant and speaks about how to couple social media with in-person interactions to get the most out of online networking professionally. #ci3342#SocialMediaLearning

@Ericarua24 Hi Erica,
I agree this is very interesting! It's so exciting to see all of the new technologies & capabilities realized with AI. I think this is a really cool intersection between technology and labor and just a really productive innovation overall!
This is a really cool article. It not only defines digital citizenship and why it is important while incorporating the nine elements we learned about, but it also gives a framework/suggestions on how to raise a good digital citizen. #SocialMediaLearning#ci3342#DigCit
I really like this because it shows the similarities between being a good digital citizen and being a good citizen in general. With the additional terminology, it may be easy for some to forget the basic differences. #SocialMediaLearning#ci3342#DigCit
Being a teacher means we get to teach these skills to the future generations. With the digital age upon us, it’s important to promote digital citizenship and show that empathy is important on the internet as well. #unietd
Really good article on digital citizenship. It does a really good job of tying in the importance of digital citizenship with the topics of digital citizenship & responsible use of technology, and overall emphasizing the need for it. #SocialMediaLearning#ci3342#DigCit
This week, we will discuss crucial aspects of our lives and those of our kids. While “digital citizenship” and “responsible use of technology” may look similar, it is important to still draw lines at their appropriate places.

@GregSlavik Hi Greg, great resource! I think the incorporation of a visionary planner, empowerment of leadership, and effective systems design have large potential benefits as it relates to promoting Digital Citizenship. These are all things that can be incorporated into higher education.
@Ericarua24 This seems like a strong move by Utah. It is important to impose parental consent in matters related to social media use by young children, as it has tons of potential in terms of ensuring we teach kids to have proper digital citizenship before being exposed to social media.
@Saawndruh This was a really cool video that gets the clear message across, including items like knowing credible sources, ensuring password security, and utilizing critical thinking skills. I also really liked how they also described why digital citizenship is so important. Great Resource!
@huhn_kayla48 Hey Kayla! I agree this is a really fun way to connect with young learners surrounding the topics of digital citizenship. I think these types of interactive methods are most effective when it comes to teaching/connecting with young children. Happy to see things like this!
