@1a Yhe care was inconsistent. On the night my mother passed, no one from @VITAS showed up. We called the Dr, who explained how to increase the dosage of morphine to keep her comfortable and to be prepared to call her time of death. It was traumatic.

12/26 last year about 7:30pm
we learned Vitas Hospice
would not be sending a nurse to care
for our mom. Despite her being on 24 hr care rotation, no one came. We had to nurse her ourselves.

Vitus stole from us being present as our mom's children during
her transition from this
life. Instead we were forced
to be unprepared, exhausted,
nurses. It was a traumatic experience that can't be fixed or atoned for. It was not the comfort care that Vitas promised.

What you don't need when facing the end for a loved 1 is unreliable help. Vitas Hospice SUCKS!!!!They promised crisis care and left us with no help tonight. What humane care giver does that? My mom deserves better than this. And so does everyone else's mom. Shame on you Vitas.

One beautiful, bright spot. At about 3:15am, David (bless him) from Vitas showed up with a needed med that he picked up from Walgreens for us. He administered it and made sure we knew how to do it ourselves for the next doses. They sent a CNA this morning. 2

Thank you for your prayers and support. Update. We made it through the night ok. They sent someone to "check" on us. If the story that emerged is to be believed, it was a blessing in disguise that the nurse didn't show because she apparently went to Lawnwood with Covid.
