to the people who have been hurt by the church, i’m sorry. i hope you know that even though christians are supposed to represent Christ, sometimes we do a really crappy job. we aren’t perfect. we struggle just like you. whatever your experience was, i hope you know God wants you.

Wanting the benefits of Jesus without the sufferings of Jesus, isn’t actually wanting Jesus. That’s not an unconditional love. Unconditional love is taking on our suffering, and offering us undeserved benefits, because Jesus wants us that badly. Now that’s true love.

Just the other day I walked into the Hudson Oaks Walmart w/ a friend and turned to her and said, “something could happen at any time. It’s not just at schools. A shooting could happen today while we’re here. I hate that.” And today it happened once again. In El Paso. In Walmart.
