This is really helpful. The SBC is not imposing beliefs on churches when holding them to BFM. Those churches violating the BFM (and more importantly, scripture) are trying to change the SBC and impose their beliefs on us. We didn't change, but they are wanting us to.
I am probably in the minority report on this, but I hold the view that the SBC identifying a church as outside friendly cooperation and disfellowshipping from them actually upholds church and convention autonomy rather than destroys it.
Now that we’re doing the thing in the SBC where everyone comes out to support what grassroots conservatives proposed years ago…
Can we do financial transparency next?
I completely agree with my brother, here. But I've said it a million times before, and I'll say it again, the best, and probably most cost effective way to mitigate this issue AND to let the voice of the grassroots be heard is ONLINE VOTING.
I do not understand why SBC conservatives are still so opposed to this. It can be done. The technology exists.
@ndwilsonmutters We love The Riot and the Dance! I was telling all my extended family about the new episode last night. My kids love them! It's so nice being able to watch a (well done) animal show without evolution being shoved down our throats, and instead hearing about God's amazing design.
TN Right to Life is advertising for their 50th anniversary. They are planning their annual “Pro-Life Day on the Hill” at the Capitol on Nashville.
Their theme?
“The Next 50 Years Starts Now.”
What a horrific statement. They are openly admitting they plan to be working to keep abortion legal for pregnant women for at least the next 50 years.
We at Abolish Abortion TN desire this holocaust in our state to not remain legal for even 50 more seconds, let alone 50 years.
If you are a Tennesseans who truly wants abortion abolished, please take TN Right to Life at their word that they have no plans on that happening anytime in the next 50 years—but we do.
If you’d like more information, please visit our website at https://t.co/ZcnZa2GyoY.
Last night was very encouraging.
I was pretty discouraged Tuesday. I'm so thankful for those ready to be in the fight for the long haul. Let's make abortion illegal, TN.
Tennessee churches are fired up to abolish abortion! Last night we organized and equipped pastors in Nashville. Tonight we are doing the same in Knoxville. We won’t stop until it ends in Jesus’ name!
@TGC Questions.
1. Did this poll account for those leaving pro-life to become abolishionists?
2. When asking about abortion participation, was it how they participated in the last 2 years, or was is something they could have done in the past and repented of as Christian's?
I pray that those who were not brave enough to speak up for the unborn are haunted by their cries until they repent and turn to Christ. That is their only hope.
I also pray that those who were willing to stand will be emboldened and blessed. We can't give up.
👀 Tennessee Republicans have complete control of the Tennessee state government, as noted by @JodyBarrett4TN.
They have no excuse to avoid passing House Bill 570, which would abolish abortion and equally protect preborn babies in Tennessee.

We've reduced worship to a feeling you have during the music.
The biblical vision is far larger: a covenant people gathered around the living God, meeting him in Word and sacrament, sent back into the world as witnesses.
The feeling, if it comes, is a byproduct — not the point.
Incorrect. Your intellectual forefathers advocated for kinder slavery. William Dolban and Henry Dundas, gradual abolitionists, passed all sorts of regulations on the slave trade as a substitute for complete and total abolition of the trade, just as your organization passes regulations as a substitute for complete and total abolition of abortion.
Of them (and you) Wilberforce says this, "Let me be forgiven if I speak strongly, where I feel so very deeply. It is not only because the gradual Abolitionists have been, in fact, the only real stay of that system of wickedness and cruelty which we wish to abolish; though that assertion is unquestionably true; but it is trying beyond expression that they should be the real maintainers of the Slave Trade..."
If you are a pastor in Tennessee, we need your help to advance a bill to abolish abortion and equally protect preborn babies. Please comment below or send me a direct message.
The SBC is asking courts for the legal right to say false things about your pastor — and be immune from accountability.
If they win, you and your church could be next.

@Pastor_Gabe After my parents' divorce, my mom couldn't get a loan for a house. I was 2. My papaw requested prayer for us. After church, a man came up and told Papaw he'd sell her his house. He did. We had a home. What a blessing the church is!
@HeathLambert Can you help me understand the task force Pastor Rice is suggesting. I assume it's different than the task force to " determine what a pastor is" that was shut down a few years ago. I just don't completely understand the plan.
