Federer actually has the best H2H vs Nadal amongst the top players that played with a single handed backhand. All of them were thrashed by Nadal : Wawrinka, Gasquet, Tsitsipas, Dimitrov. Thiem gave Nadal a fight but then his career was so short due to injury.
