This is a photograph (daguerreotype) of a Native American village taken by Solomon Nunes Carvalho in 1853. It is one of the earliest photographs of Native Americans ever taken and is the only surviving daguerreotype from his 1853 journey west through America. It shows a view of a Cheyenne village at Big Timbers in what is now Colorado.

The photograph is very old and in bad condition, but if you look closely you can see two Native Americans standing on the left; on the right, drying hides hang on a wooden structure. There are also four tipis visible.
