Before he was Pope Leo XIV, Robert Prevost had heard about 16-year-old Donal Walsh who was dying of cancer in the west of Ireland. He was so impressed by Donal's deep that he wrote him a letter offering to make him an honorary Augustinian. And two days before he died, Donal was sworn in.
This is the story of a teenager whose courage and conviction inspired Ireland, and also a future Pope.
Warning: View the secular media reports on what Pope Leo says with a critical eye. Even if they spin what he says in a positive way they will remove the Christian content from it. Example: His first words were "The Peace of Christ be with you all." The BBC reported it as his first words were "Peace be with you all."
@TaylorRMarshall I always thought the traditionalist best case scenario was a prolonged conclave that forced a move to the center. I was worried about a quick election given the overwhelming liberal make-up of the Cardinal electors.
@TaylorRMarshall That he wore the Papal vestments was encouraging.
However, every time I hear people being positive about the name selection my brain screams “Paul V. Paul VI.” at me! Hopefully that is just me being overly negative.
Truth must prevail over false piety, especially when a conclave looms. And the cold, hard truth is that in governance no less than on matters of doctrine, Francis’s pontificate was, in Cardinal Pell’s words, “a disaster in many or most respects; a catastrophe”
The Prime Minister [James Callaghan] has chosen to put equality first. We suggest that he should choose to put liberty first. Then he will end up with liberty and fewer inequalities than if he puts equality first and wholly neglects liberty.
@RejoiceCC Personally I just find it sad that the Church has become so weak and pathetic that this is able to be put out there by a sitting US president. There was a time the Church was respected either out of reverence or political necessity by such people. Now it doesn’t matter to them.
@FoxNews SNL is one of those shows that thinks it is providing such cutting edge humor yet there is nothing cutting edge and nothing humorous about it. Just the same boring liberal drivel.
If your denomination is named after a person… that’s a red flag 🚩
If your pastor is a millionaire… 🚩
If your church ordains women… 🚩
If your church has a basket of ear plugs at the entrance… 🚩
If your church displays Pride flags… 🚩
If your church will “re-baptize” you as often as you’d like… 🚩
If your church affirms sin, including divorce, birth control and abortion… 🚩
If your church has laser lights, fog machines and a rock band… 🚩
If your church only offers communion once a month (or less frequently)… 🚩
If your church doesn’t encourage you to confess your sins… 🚩
If your church sees no value in the practices and beliefs of the Church Fathers… 🚩
What else would you add?
@AdamMcKola I’ve stood by him but it is getting to the point of enough is enough. To be honest that point should have been reached a while back but the fact he is a Utd boy and Utd academy product bought him a bit more time with me.
@RichRaho@DictatorPope I pray for them to turn to Christ. I pray for the souls of their victims. I pray for healing for the families. I pray for the healing of any survivors. I pray for justice to be done. But I will not pray for an arbitrary commuting of their sentences.
