With the Bills in 1971, James Harris became the first Black starting quarterback in AFC history.

In 1974, the #Rams installed "Shack" at starting quarterback, making him the NFC's first-ever Black starting quarterback.

He would lead L.A. to 7 wins in its next 9 games and a division crown, earning Pro Bowl honors.

The 1975 Pro Bowl saw Harris throw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to earn game MVP honors in the NFC's 17-10 victory.

In a 1976 game against Miami, Harris totaled 436 passing yards — the NFL's fifth and final 400-yard passing performance of the 1970s decade.
