The Timberwolves are thrilled with their acquisition of LaMelo Ball and love the long-term outlook of the roster 🐺
“He makes Ant better, Jaden better, Rudy and Joan Beringer better… How many other players in the league would make your three best players better without getting in the way?” one team source said.
Anthony Edwards has long admired LaMelo’s game and the two have been close for years
Minnesota is also confident LaMelo will thrive within the organization’s culture despite past questions about his maturity.
The Wolves love the long-term outlook of their roster. Gobert and DiVincenzo are the only players older than 26, while LaMelo, Ant and McDaniels are all under contract for at least the next three seasons
“Our roster is stacked for the next three years,” one team source said. “And probably longer.”

Kevin Garnett understands it! The BIG TICKET came right out of high school for a reason. 6’11 PF was dedicated to the game & deserves his flowers.👏🏾👏🏾 #KevinGarnett#LethalShooter
Guys the fit is insane
Please stop questioning the fit - the fit is insane
A lead ball handler who can set everyone else up but also isn’t an A1 scoring option but CAN score?
The fit is insane
There are other concerns here but the fit is not a concern - he’s literally the best possible 2nd option
This is an all-in risk for the Timberwolves.
If LaMelo Ball is unable to stay healthy, which has been a problem, this is a move that could force Anthony Edwards out of Minnesota down the road.
However, if Ball stays on the court, this is a much-needed championship type swing.
@BrandonMileski The way the team was ending last year, minus Randle, plus a couple role players wasn’t enough to beat SAS, OKC, or any top team. It may completely blow up in their face, but if it were to work out, swing for the fences.
Brian Windhorst on LaMelo the Minnesota:
“He’s (Ant) is tired of being double teamed. They get him a dynamic scorer in the backcourt. You throw a double at Ant Edwards with Lamelo Ball on the court, you are playing with fire. Lamelo will drop 10 3s on you in a blink of an eye”
The Wolves have been trying to get LaMelo Ball for two years. They paid a price with Naz, but there is elation throughout the building about pairing Melo and Anthony Edwards.
@NicoletteMpls Pick swaps shouldn’t ever happen if we have a better record than the Hornets each year…so basically it’s Naz, a 2033 1st and all the 2nd rounders.
