“a smile from yours truly.”
the waves lick at her feet once more before raising higher up to splash over her shins. he mimicked her posture, arms over his chest.
“don’t keep me or the ocean waiting any longer.”
“ and what do i seek to gain should i enter the water .ᐣ “
her arms crossed over her chest, brow furrowed, she wasn’t sure why she was entertaining this, though she supposed it was better than being at home right about now.
“i was here first.”
long before her in this delicate dance of the abyss and celestial body. he hardly attempts to meet her in the middle, licks of salt water crawling up her ankle before receding back.
“further.”
pushing, pulling … his ears flicker in anticipation.
there was that request again, and reira had found herself moving closer, but still not entering.
“ why don’t you come onto land instead .ᐣ “ the water lapped at her feet, her eyes remaining on his.
“ i won’t be the easy prey. “
“is that one of your rhetorical questions? the answer is clear.”
despite the vast distance between them he would still splash some water in her direction. gentle waves pointedly flowing to her, beckoning.
“come in the water.”
she could have left, turned around and gone home, and yet she continued to entertain this, arms crossed as he pulled himself onto the rock.
“ staring again. you really are shameless. you know it’s rude, right .ᐣ “
silence is the only answer she gets in response. that and laughter, of course.
a new bumpy rock plays host as he pulls his upper half onto it, observing the woman carefully, tracking her every movement.
she wouldn’t be so foolish to dive into the water, no matter how badly she wanted to, she remained just out of reach.
“ as if i’d ever let you a taste of my flesh. do you think me stupid .ᐣ “
he probably did, twas’ a silly question.
“am i the fish when you are the one biting at the bait so ferociously?”
such a mouthy little morsel… he drifted closer and close, sharpened teeth dazzling from the moonlight.
“take a dive. waste your time in the water, fishy.”
those azure eyes of hers soon turned stormy, she had half the mind to throw something at him, but she resisted.
“ as if i’d be following a smart mouthed fish. i’ve got a far better use of my time. “
in fairness, she really didn’t.
“at least you recognize it now. you’re welcome.”
there’s a low cackle of a laugh that bubbles up from the ocean. lazy, amused purple eyes glow as he watches her, stopping when she does.
“no,” he lies. “we are going the same direction. perhaps you are the one following me.”
“ ah yes, because i purposefully intended on that. “
her words came sharper, bitter, like that little remark had meant more to her than what he may have intended.
he was following her now, which was odd.
“ why are you following .ᐣ “
“be less noticeable next time.”
such a sassy remark for someone committing a faux pas but alas, no such care for societal norms could be found.
while his staring didn’t stop, he did begin to move along with her as she walked. head of purple bobbing in and out of the surface.
“ if you must stare, perhaps do so where i cannot see you. “
her voice called to what seemed like no one, but she had spotted that figure atop of the rock. she was used to being stared at, sure, didn’t make it any less annoying.
