The Tioga Recreation Mountain Bike Trails are mostly open. Closed yet are Iron Maidenhair, Hockeyhair, Minneflowta, Ruby Slipper, Greenway Roughrider and Ghostplane. Have fun and enjoy your ride.
There is still lots of ice on parts of the trails. After an hours hike, I am saddened at the amount of destruction on parts of the trail. I just don’t have words for it.
THE TRAILS ARE STILL CLOSED!
Thank you.
As usual, the haul roads are open.
Please stay of the singletrack trails. The trails are about 85% clear of ice and snow. The other 15%, if ridden or walked on, could cause hours of volunteer work. The less work we have to do, the quicker the trails will open. As always, the haul roads are open.
Hi All, I spent three and a half hours on the trails today. The trails are soft in a lot of parts and snow and ice still cover a major portion of each trail. PLEASE stay off them.
A couple people have been out and caused damage to them that will need a few hours worth of work to clean them up. If you feel you must use Tioga for your recreational purposes, please use the haul roads until we can fix and open them at a later date. Watch here, Trailbot, and X.
After discussions with the other groomers, we will not be grooming anymore this season. packing what we are getting today and maybe tomorrow will only extend the "frozen" season. Hopefully the new snow will melt quickly, and we can get back to the freeze/thaw part of spring.
Ahh. Spring is in the air. For the next week, the temps will be way above freezing, so please stay off the trails during these times. Early mornings and midnight rides may not harm them. Studded tires will likely be in order.
Grooming happened again this evening. With tomorrow’s warm weather we are asking you to a stay off the trails. Today’s visitors were hard on the trails as tire pressures were not low enough. Also had one rider when temp was almost 40 degrees.
In the last two days, all the normal trails have been groomed and have set up well. Riding should be great! If it warms up as the forecast states, please fund something else to do. Thank you.
Grooming happened again last night. Fresh groomed were Ruby Slipper, Powers Run, Gears Knob, Greenway Rough Rider, Veda’s Free Press, and Flying Carpe’ . Watch your back trail. If you are leaving ruts, please exit the trails.
Peter and I were out grooming tonight. We covered Iron Maidenhair, Minneflowta, Gurley Flynn, Tioga Party and Thrillseeker. All haul roads have also been groomed. The trails were soft when we finished. No guarantees.
Please be advised that the sun and warm weather will be hard on the trails causing soft spots that probably will be hard to repair. With our up and coming race, Fat Forest Fourteen, we ask that you only ride when the trails are sub freezing. As usual, the haul roads are open.
I believe the trails are in great shape at this point. Please refrain from being on them tomorrow as it is supposed to warm to 30+ by 9:00, then the forecast calls for rain. Tuesday should be better. As usual, the haul roads are open. Thanks for your support.
After our 2+ inches of new snow, I started grooming around 1:00. All trails were groomed. Some, twice. They should set up great for tomorrow. A big thank you to all the snowshoers that were out today and helped pack some of the trails in.
All trails were groomed last night. Please be mindful of your tire pressures. 4-6 pounds is a good start. If you are leaving any kind of rut, especially on the short uphills, lower the pressure a little more. Thank you.
With what little snow we had in the last few days, I decided to groom tonight. All trails with the exception of Good Vibrations, No Place and Seven iron Men were groomed. Most haul roads were also groomed. There is one bad icy spot on Greenway Rough Rider. Somebody wiped out bad.
