@tampabay28 Temporary visas do not grant de facto citizenship. Hell, they don’t even make someone an immigrant. If they want to stay permanently, they have to prove they are willing to leave if we decline their application. We, the Citizens, have the right to say no, even arbitrarily.
The options do not change. If you entered the country on a TEMPORARY visa, then you entered the United States with the sworn intention of returning back to your home country. The problem is, committing visa fraud is so deeply entrenched within certain cultures, that when someone actually goes about immigrating to the US the correct way, they are looked at like a clown from their own family and friends. This is how bad immigration fraud has become.
How stupid are you?
Visa fraud runs DEEP within our immigration system! This will crackdown on the rampant visa fraud. Believe it or not, it is illegal to enter the country on a tourist, with the full intention of getting married and never returning to your home country. This means you lied to CBP officers upon entry and use a temporary visa type to immigrate here. Immigration attorneys have been pushing couples to do this for decades. I have this in writing from numerous attorneys from 2021, when my then fiancee was immigrating to the US, so we can marry. Thankfully, we did our own research and applied through the K-1 visa, and had no trouble following the rule of law, without any attorney.
@Corinne4Hillary@ValerieFoushee A student visa is, just that, a student visa. If you decide to marry someone while you are here, GREAT! I met my now wife, while she was visiting the United States. But she eventually had to go back to her home country. We then were able to apply for the K-1 visa.
