Dear, mutuals: Thanks for being yourselves and making this platform enjoyable. When life sucks I know you are on here in some interesting threads or posting things that bring my mood back up. Don't ever be afraid to be yourselves, if not for yourselves then for people like me.
@Gingerblast@O_Orche There's a neurochemical response to the pheromones given off by family to prevent inbreeding. Someone missing that basic instinct makes the people who have it repulsed on a subconscious level as to avoid spreading that mutation. Even nature thinks it's gross.
@Gingerblast This is too nuanced and without all of the context, even if you receive a consistent consensus, it should be taken cautiously. I would definitely be interested in a poll on the topic, though. This has been a very informative and insightful thread for me, thanks for posting it.
@BigMT33907@Gingerblast There could easily be another mechanic or a situational/ nuance ruling that changes the roles in that situation or provides alternative consequences to the interloper, but mechanically combat is usually considered offensive or defensive based on who initiated the combat itself.
@BigMT33907@Gingerblast I don't think I follow what you're saying here.
I'm saying player A is only the defender in the context of combat. Situationally, player A tries to take land from b without attacking, player B attempts to stop this by attacking, and player A defends against the attack.
@BigMT33907@Gingerblast This depends on context of the game and the other rules involved, though, so I definitely don't intend these statements as over generalizations. Plenty of games could very reasonably see it another way. It's all about the intention of the designer and the desired play experience.
@BigMT33907@Gingerblast I def get this perspective but it doesn't translate as well to game mechanics. If attacking a city is offensive mechanically then it should ignore the diplomatic nuances of the situation. Settling an opponent’s land could be a casus belli or have Diplomatic repercussions, though.
@Gingerblast Then I would say player B reacts offensively. Generally players will have an array of options to retaliate with, combat being an optional response. If the situation doesn't FORCE combat, then it should remain ambiguous for sake of player agency imo

It's crazy how much value people still attach to reviews.
This is the best response from a celebrity by far when asked about politics
Nobody cares about what actors, singers and comedians have to say about it, they should focus on their art not lecturing people and pushing agendas
Dear American friends,
Unfortunately, not every Japanese person is as cool as the people you see in anime or Japanese dramas.
I’m just an ordinary Japanese person. I work every day, stop by a convenience store when I’m tired, and spend my days off doing absolutely nothing. I’m not fluent in English either. Even though I think I know a lot about America, I’m sure there would still be plenty of things that would make me say, “Wait, you guys actually do that?”
But I love my country, Japan. And I genuinely love your country, America, too.
So I want to do my small part to help keep the relationship between Japan and America strong.
And more than anything, I’d be happy if we could become good friends, regardless of where we come from.
@Gingerblast Wishing you both nothing but the best. I know first hand what that's like and I'm sorry both of you are going through this right now. My heart and thoughts are with you both
