I'm thinking that perhaps the reason Seungmin has rarely cried in front of people in recent years is 10% because he's an adult now – an adult rarely cries in public, even if they're extremely distressed inside. But 90% is because when he cries, it's not just a simple cry, it's like the whole world is collapsing. When he cries, he carries with him a tearful story that makes everyone who loves him feel like their hearts are being squeezed. Seungmin isn't overly sensitive, nor is he carefree, he's somewhere in between. He doesn't let negative emotions get out of control and kill him, but he also carries a lot of burdens within him. He's the kind of person who, in random days, can stand far away and suddenly burst into tears watching the person he loves. That's why he cried in 2 Kids Room with Bangchan, or why he told himself he absolutely mustn't cry when he was sitting alone and waiting for Felix. He's the kind of person who, even though he knows that his leg injury is a challenge in life and that his inability to perform well isn't his fault but because that poor leg can't handle it anymore, still takes the blame, even feeling extremely guilty.
Perhaps that's also why Seungmin, as an idol, chose to completely disappear from the fans' sight, even during the peak of his idol career. The biggest fear for an idol at the peak of their career is absence, so many are willing to risk their lives to appear frequently in front of the public, or at least, if they don't have a schedule, they will interact intensely with fans through social media or chat apps. Yet Seungmin maintains a frightening silence. Perhaps more than the fear of temporarily disappearing or being forgotten, he fears appearing before fans in an awkward state, not knowing how to explain things to them appropriately or alleviate their worries about his current situation. Or perhaps he fears he won't be able to control himself and reveal his most vulnerable and fragile sides, what if he appears on a livestream with a face full of tear? Perhaps all of that held him back, perhaps he thought it better to stay in his corner to heal before returning to the stage as a cheerful, energetic puppy—a puppy that people rarely see cry
