@ziv_ravid I cynically view Anthropic moving rapidly onto biology is an insane level of copium from getting beaten by OpenAI to the fancy sounding math win (which I also think is suspect because similarly, 14 million lines of Lean would get a software engineer fired from anywhere).

@Liv_Boeree The paper itself seems to indicate that the system was way more complex than just the LLM alone. Stochastic parrot working alongside a team of researchers actively prompting it, as well as a more deterministic software system underneath. More smoke and mirrors typical of AI labs.

Kurt Godel showed that axiomatic systems directly built to be unhackable and non-self-referential can be hacked (under the strain of its own constraints) to be self-referential and therefore, incomplete. The same standard should apply to Lean (if it exists, happy to learn).

After doing cursory research and probing OpenAI's extremely large Lean repository, it seems to me that winning the Millenium Prize should be gated behind actually being able to prove that there isn't any "Lean Magic" hacks within the millions of little code interactions.

I understand that the gold standard for Lean proofs was "it compiles", but clearly this standard cannot be applied to a multi-million line repository that remains almost completely unexplained by its creators. Who even knows what these files do? Maybe Lean itself has issues?

@avramidou Arguably it was at one point pitched as universal general knowledge. One of the big proposed pitches for AI was that it would "combine the entire knowledgebase of human history", and it seems like now that is not really feasible, AI proponents are hiding in technicalities.
