The NorCal coast isn’t always the safest but I guarantee this “rookie” spent at least 8 years in Santa Cruz Junior Guards learning, training and volunteering before getting hired at 16 for intensive Cal State Lifeguard training down in Huntington Beach. Who do you know at 16 who puts his life on the line each shift as a first responder in rough conditions? My son is 24 and a former CA State Lifeguard. He just started medical school in NY and I give credit to this program. because of this same early training and calling.

@stocksvrier @TRobinsonNewEra My son was in the same program 10 years ago and became a CA state parks lifeguard too. He worked summers in college and just started his first year of medical school in NY. CREDIT TO THIS SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM.

@annamlulis It was really like a boot camp 🤣 and our kids (10-14) were so tired each night, they went straight to sleep at a decent hour.

“California State Parks Junior Guards”run by California State Parks is the same organization that taught my son (former CA State Lifeguard) via summer beach camp sessions how to respect the Ocean, competing daily in running, paddling and open water ocean swimming. It’s kids from these youth summer camps that are chosen to interview for a chance to be trained down in Huntington Beach and work for State Parks as an official CA State Parks Lifeguard. Honestly we stumbled onto the program because a three week session was 1/3 the cost of one week volleyball or horse riding camp and its 6-7 hours vs 3-4 hrs per day.

@eurofounder Well… if I were witness and if he were black or brown, I’d give that description to police so they can narrow down suspects in horrific crime. And I would have definately reported the Muslim style beard as well. Why should I hold back the details I witnessed?
