Extremely moderate, or moderately extreme. Doing my best to be better. R/T do not equal endorsements. Opinions are my own and subject to change. he/him.
@howcoryseesit@NY_LBSS@Ejmiller25@CyborgPeds That said, my main point is that Platner's struggles don't mean that he was unable to sign up and go to work as a contractor.
I'll leave that up to him and his therapist as to whether or not it was a good idea.
@howcoryseesit@NY_LBSS@Ejmiller25@CyborgPeds There's no one single way a person responds to trauma, loss, or grief, and it's certainly not right to infantilize somebody who's struggling more than the next guy.
@Ejmiller25@WDE2011@NY_LBSS@CyborgPeds But I'm no expert on the oyster farming economy, so maybe my numbers are off, but it just seems like a very labor-intensive and time-consuming way to make money.
@Ejmiller25@WDE2011@NY_LBSS@CyborgPeds It takes an oyster a couple years to grow to maturity, and then if you're selling them wholesale, the labor involved in pulling them up and cleaning them is stupid expensive.
@NY_LBSS@Ejmiller25@CyborgPeds Having worked with a number of people who have PTSD, a lot of them actually start to feel more at home in a conflict zone and actually have a really hard time adjusting to living a normal life.
@Ejmiller25@CyborgPeds Like, I don't believe he's a Nazi, but I absolutely believe that he wore a tattoo for a really long time, knowing exactly what it was and not just not caring.
But I have no doubt that the evidence shows that his disabilities match a 100% rating in the VA schedule of ratings.
@derek_debus He doesn't want to do it himself. He wants the government to force other people to do it.
As somebody who considers himself fairly progressive, I hate it when people propose that the solution to a problem is a fantasy.
@KeystoneObsrvr@Ejmiller25 I just bristle at some of the sorting that goes on when there is so much in common. It feels like quibbling over certain things leads to "othering," and as someone who has been "othered," I don't like that.
@Ejmiller25 If calling yourself a Jew and believing in Christ brings you closer to your faith, who am I to tell you that's wrong?
I'm not about to start a fight over what somebody calls themself.
@Ejmiller25 I kind of feel that way about Messianic Jews.
You might have a Jewish background, but once you start believing that the Messiah has been here, youโre kinda in a different club at that point.
Doesn't mean you can't join us for Passover, though and share some gefilte fish.
@CyborgPeds The type of guy who's always been angry but also would do anything for their closest friends unless he felt like he was betrayed by one of those friends, in which case all bets are off. also, somebody who definitely shouldn't be drinking.
@CyborgPeds You want to like them, but your better judgment is that if they don't get their act together, you're going to get pulled into a hole with them.
