Today, I engaged with officers undertaking a course at the Senior Command and Staff College, Kimaka, 52 of whom are students drawn from across the continent. We discussed strategic security, wealth creation, ICT, population growth and the dangers of sectarianism.
I emphasized that Africa’s future lies in economic and political integration, guided by Patriotism and Pan-Africanism. We must build the capacity to defend our interests in all spheres while creating prosperity and opportunities for our people.
I congratulate the students and wish them good luck.
This afternoon, I officially opened the Cabinet Induction Retreat at Kyankwanzi. I reminded the leaders that the historical role of the NRM and post-Independence African leadership is socio-economic transformation.
We cannot continue to have people trapped in subsistence production. Our mission is to move every household into the money economy through commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services and ICT. Leaders must guide the people towards wealth creation, value addition and prosperity.
We must build a middle class and a skilled working class. That is the benchmark by which leadership should be judged.
The National Vice Chairperson of PLU, Mr.Michael Nuwagira, is hereby instructed to organise the handover/takeover ceremony of the position of General Secretary of PLU as soon as possible. From Hon.Kabanda to Hon.Fadil. All PLU Ministers and Members of Parliament must attend.

@KagutaMuseveni It's encouraging to see continued efforts to strengthen the Judiciary through digitisation, accountability, and efficient service delivery. This is a positive step for justice in Uganda.
Today at State House Entebbe, I presided over the swearing-in of Hon. Justice Moses Kawumi Kazibwe as Deputy Chief Justice.
I congratulate Justice Kawumi and commend the Judiciary, under the leadership of Chief Justice Flavian Zeija, for the progress being made in fighting corruption, promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution, and embracing digitisation. These reforms are important in ensuring that justice is delivered efficiently, fairly, and without unnecessary delays.
When we came into government, corruption and excessive emphasis on technicalities were major weaknesses in the judicial system. I am therefore pleased to see continued efforts to strengthen substance, integrity, and accountability in the administration of justice.
I wish Justice Kawumi success as he undertakes this important responsibility.
@KagutaMuseveni A prosperous Uganda requires collective effort, and this vision of ensuring every household participates in the money economy is both practical and inspiring. Wishing the nation even greater success in the coming financial year.
@KagutaMuseveni Uganda’s projected growth to 10.2% demonstrates the effectiveness of government policies and the immense potential of sectors such as petroleum, agriculture, and regional trade.
As we implement the Financial Year 2026/27 Budget, we must remain focused on Uganda’s strategic goal of socio-economic transformation. Our economy is growing at 6.4% and is projected to expand to 10.2% next year, driven in part by petroleum. By fully utilizing our vast potential, taking advantage of the African market, and ensuring that every household joins the money economy, we shall create prosperity for all Ugandans.
I met the EAC Secretary General, Stephen Patrick Mbundi, and his team at State Lodge Nakasero to discuss matters concerning the Community, including trade, infrastructure, staffing, health, financing, and regional integration.
As Chairperson of the EAC Summit, I emphasised the need to strengthen regional cooperation and accelerate the implementation of programmes that advance prosperity and integration for our people.
Fellow Ugandans, on this Heroes Day, we remember the immense sacrifices made by our people in the struggle for freedom. The 9th of June 1981 was chosen to represent the hundreds of thousands who were killed, especially in the Luweero Triangle. After the war, we collected skulls from 32 communal graves as a reminder of the atrocities our people endured.
When we went to the bush, Uganda was facing a profound crisis. The economy had collapsed, governance had broken down, insecurity was rampant, and for 18 years, Ugandans had been denied the opportunity to freely elect their leaders. Our objectives were therefore clear: restore democracy, guarantee security, expand and diversify the economy, and rebuild the country.
I thank the civilian and armed veterans who joined us in this struggle and helped achieve these goals. I also salute the families of those heroes who are no longer with us. The challenge before us now is economic transformation and ensuring that every household joins the money economy.
Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu. Tomorrow is Heroes Day. I will address the country live on TV, radio and social media at 10:00am.
Please tune in as we commemorate our heroes and discuss matters concerning our country.
On this #HeroesDay, we pay tribute to all those who stood up, and those who continue to stand up, for Uganda with the utmost commitment and courage. Their selfless service and dedication to Uganda is not forgotten. May their legacies live on in the Uganda they helped build.
Museveni: Since the 2008/09 financial year, over UGX 231 billion has been spent on Akasiimo for veterans. I need a meeting with their committee to assess the progress made and discuss the way forward.
