The hope is that once the school year begins, students and teachers can cut the buckwheat down & replant fall crops in their teaching gardens.
SD Planting: A 4 Season Approach! @AgPhDMedia (beds out at Hefty site south of Baltic, SD)

@GroundWorksSDAg adapted their planting this summer, but a new approach was introduced. Buckwheat seed was planted in June, giving the beds crop coverage, weed suppression, and an opportunity for pollinators.
Lessons in soil health, crop rotation, and fall planting all in one!
