Hi there Teitterverse, happy 2023! Refreshing this post for the new year, lots of activity in quantum around campus these days, come join in the fun! #quantum#physics#chemistry#ECE#CSE#materials
QuSTEAM is now officially incorporated as a nonprofit organization!
The QuSTEAM nonprofit is growing out of an @NSF Convergence Accelerator initiative to create an equitable and effective #quantum#curriculum.

Congratulations @danna_freedman! An honor richly deserved for a real pioneer in the field and a collaborator with whom it is a true pleasure to work. Everything I actually understand about chemistry (and working with chemists) is her fault 😉.
Professor Danna Freedman receives 2022 MacArthur Fellowship: MIT chemist designs novel molecules that could be used for quantum sensing and communication; visiting scholar Moriba Jah is also awarded, for work on space sustainability. https://t.co/8EcPgoA3IV

Hi everyone, more good #quantum news from @OhioState. @OSUmath has just announced a new search for junior faculty interested in quantum information: https://t.co/1VDNRlLnVn.
A strong vote of confidence for the relevance of quantum information and the impact of Quantum 2.0. @QuSTEAM, couldn't be more timely!
Also a strong argument for following your passions in research, a topic that went from 'niche' to 'transformative' over a few decades.
BREAKING NEWS:
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2022 #NobelPrize in Physics to Alain Aspect, John F. Clauser and Anton Zeilinger.
Just a quick reminder that you can win a Nobel with an h-index = 29 (according to the usually inflated google scholar). Quantitative measures of scientific output are not the way to go to a bright future for humanity.
We are hiring! TT Assistant Professor in Experimental Condensed Matter (with a possibility of considering higher ranks). 🚀 Please share! 💫 Seacoast New Hampshire is lovely 🏔🏖 and we have a great department here. https://t.co/czgWNEQZqz
If you’re a student looking to work in quantum education I have a job for you!
Come work on my team as either a co-op or summer intern and help develop educational materials for wide audiences. DM me with relevant questions.

@QuSTEAM uses qBraid @qbraid_official in four courses for frosh/soph. We're sponsoring a quantum hackathon with @AWS Oct 21-Nov 5, with workshops to support teams of 2-6. https://t.co/txi90mkIIQ
@BMatB Preparation bias. We really do have a STEM “pipeline”: if you don’t decide on a STEM career in middle school it is increasingly difficult to pivot in. This differentially filters those who don’t have an engineer/scientist in their social network.
Super exciting news for OSU! Building on Intel momentum, Columbus is 🔥. Who knew? 😉

@drpeterrohde@AcademicChatter Great thread! Thanks @DrAlexClark for flagging it! As a cherry on top, remember that since you control the slides you control the room. Don’t hesitate to use it to your advantage in selecting content, framing discussion, etc. to focus on topics *you* want.
