Questions for DM. How do you create numerical superiority against a low block? How do you get your full-backs and wingers into advantageous positions? Where is the third-man movement? How do you create chances when the opposition won’t come onto you?
Rangers had to stop haemorrhaging money. The previous squad had too many expensive contracts that needed clearing. The new owners were never accepting £20m a year of losses. And yet the recruitment since the takeover has been nowhere near good enough. What now?
Watching Newsnight and not one of the panelist’s has articulated anything that would initiate the positive changes needed for Uk. It does not matter who the PM is unless radical changes are made to fix our Constitution back to pre 97
Uk politics is now determined by long-term institutions, legal frameworks, bureaucracies, international commitments, and demographic trends. Changing PM may alter style, but is unlikely by itself to produce major changes unless those underlying structures are reformed.
@GrahamSpiers Totally agree, Graham. And the grim part is how often we hand the initiative to the opposition from the first whistle. It’s the same pattern again and again — slow start, sit off, let the other team settle, and only wake up once we’ve no option but to chase the game.
Scotland’s biggest recurring issue isn’t talent — it’s tempo. We start games passively, sit off, and let opponents dictate the opening phase. Morocco today was just the latest example.
On this day in 1989, we had the pleasure of hearing Barry Davies describe the half-time scenery at Hampden Park. 🏴🏴

Nobody did this better. 🎙
Britain’s Constitution Since Blair
1. Parliamentary power diluted
2. Judicial power expanded
3. Quango state massively enlarged
4. Devolution fragmented the UK
5. Civil Service influence deepens
6. International constraints increased
7. Immigration reshaped political culture
We had an overabundance of great tv theme tunes in the 70’s & 80’s. Here are just some of my favourites. What are yours?
A thread.
