“but what, you think i’m just gonna let you walk into this alone?”
his fingers curled under tord’s, gripping back—not tightly, just enough to ground him. “i don’t care what happens to me,” tom admitted, his throat tightening. “i care about you.”
tom flinched slightly at tord’s touch, not because he didn’t want it—but because it was shaking.
his black eyes flicked down to tord’s hand over his, then back up, meeting tord’s gaze with something unwavering. “yeah, i know what it means,” he muttered, his voice low, firm. +
tom sat there, silent. too silent.
his fingers twitched against his jeans, his black eyes locked onto tord, unblinking. military. leader. posters. trapped.
his stomach twisted, his throat tight, but he forced himself to breathe. don’t freak out. not now. +
Why don’t I demand them to leave me be.. it— it doesn’t work that way unfortunately.. for years I’ve tried.. to run and hide but.. they put posters up as if I were missing..
not when tord looked like he was falling apart right in front of him.
slowly, tom exhaled through his nose, gripping the wheel until his knuckles ached. “so what?” he muttered, voice low, steady. “you think i’m just gonna sit here and let them take you?”
+
slowly, he exhaled through his nose, forcing himself to stay steady. “...okay,” he muttered, his voice quieter than usual. “i’m listening.”
but his fingers curled into fists against his lap, his chest tightening with something dangerously close to fear.
tom’s stomach twisted at the way tord looked at him—like he was trapped, like he wanted to run but had nowhere to go.
his black eyes stayed locked on tord’s, searching, trying to piece together what tord couldn’t say. just listen. tom’s jaw clenched.
+
[Tord couldn’t even speak anymore, the words formed only to get stuck in his throat. His gaze slowly met Tom’s wanting to explain but not even that was possible..]
Tom.. I know what this looks like.. b-but.. just listen… please..
“tord,” he muttered, his voice quieter now, steadier than he felt.
his hand hovered near tord’s wrist, hesitant but ready. say something, he wanted to tell him. tell me what’s going on. but instead, he just swallowed hard, eyes locked on tord. waiting.
tom’s heart lurched at the way tord said his name—shaky, uncertain, scared.
his black eyes flicked between tord and the car, tension coiling in his chest. whatever this was, it wasn’t good.
slowly, he pulled the car to a stop, his grip firm on the wheel. +
[Tord started at the car his stomach sinking. The more he looked at the car the more anxious he got. Those faces.. and they were looking right at him.]
Tom..
[he called out his voice shaking , his grip around the seat belt tightened]
tom didn’t believe him. not for a second.
his black eyes flicked toward tord, catching the way his fingers curled around the seat belt just a little too tight, the way his chest barely moved with his shaky breath. tord was nervous—really nervous. and not about the gift.
+
He didn’t dare face him to disappoint him. Tord let out a shaken breath looking back out the window seeing the house just near by.. and of course that black car..]
he hesitated, tapping his fingers against the wheel. “you in a rush, or just trying to change the subject?” the words were casual, but his stomach twisted, already knowing the answer.
tom’s grip on the wheel tightened, his black eyes flicking toward tord for just a second. there was something in his voice—something off. forced. tom wasn’t sure what, but it settled like a weight in his chest.
+
Holding weapons weren’t enough for him, there’s only so much he could possibly do with said weapons. But nothing could replace the person in the seat next to him]
Anywho..— we almost there yet…?
tom wasn’t stupid—he saw it in the way his smirk didn’t reach his eyes, in the way he lingered like he was running out of time.
his chest tightened. he didn’t know what tord was thinking, but he knew one thing for sure. he wasn’t ready to lose him again.
tom snorted, rolling his eyes, but the joke barely registered. something about the way tord spoke—low, almost distant—didn’t sit right.
he kept his hands steady on the wheel, but his mind was racing. tord was hiding something. +
But luckily he’s gotten better at hiding them but that still didn’t take away the fact that he still had more work to get done. Maybe his plan wasn’t worth his own being..]
tom rolled his eyes, a half-smirk tugging at his lips as he glanced over at tord. "again, it's stupid," he declared flat out, not bothering with any sugarcoating.
+
"valentine's day is just another made-up excuse for people to overdo the lovey-dovey nonsense and drop cash on gimmicks."
he let out a low chuckle before his gaze softened.
