@PaulCharchian Not that long ago, but it’s a top 10 feel gooder for a beleaguered sports state. Minneapolis Miracle, Bring Ya Ass, UMD over Michigan, Gophers over Maine, Rookie Moss on Thanksgiving.
Hockey: UMD beats Michigan, I did not attend UMD, but I dislike Michigan so much and West 7th was electric that night (2011); Gophers beat Maine in OT (2002); North Stars improbable Cup run (1991). 5/5
I’ve been a Minnesota men’s sports fan for half a century. Last night’s combo Wolves & Wild game 6 wins rank in my top 10. Especially beating the Dallas Stars quieted old North Stars demons, recent Mavericks-induced pain and so many Cowboys-related indignities. 1/5
Basketball: Game 7, “Bring Ya Ass” (2024). That’s it. Being a Wolves fan has been extra difficult. The Gophers had a couple of fun NCAA runs back in the day, but those are somewhat tainted. 4/5
Anze Kopitar has menaced the Minnesota Wild for years. As with Jerome Iginla, he has all my respect, and I’m glad I won’t be seeing him effortlessly score against my squad anymore. #mnwild
I love the MN State Boys High School Hockey Tournament. A few years ago, I got a Michigan friend into it, too. Now I always give him a preview. This year, I brought my old blog out of mothballs to share it more widely. #TheTourney https://t.co/neyhGUWyMD
AE suuuuucked tonight. Stop arguing with refs. Play basketball. Other than Naz, this team was awful to watch in person tonight. They were def the team I love to hate since the beginning. #twolves
