@andrewrypel Beyond summer steelhead, the LEKT held the first coho fishery since dam removal as salmon numbers continue to recover: https://t.co/ak79NqX0GE
@ben_a_goldfarb Gary Marston’s work on food web impacts for steelhead and resident rainbows in Washington’s Hood Canal is wonderful stuff. Realize carried by pink salmon and sculpin spawn, along with lamprey and other salmon, form really powerful seasonal food sources.
@Sammy_Roth@mreicher This is only part of the larger story and completely ignores the good work prioritizing and ground-truthing high impact culvert replacement projects being done by regional salmon recovery groups and partnerships between nonprofits and tribes in WA.
@thatsMohrlikeit The massive numbers of pink salmon being stocked in the North Pacific, and the evidence that it has profound food web impacts across salmon and bird populations. Also, I think the genetic work showing spring chinook differ from fall chinook is incredible.
@Climatologist49 Eastern ND more Midwest than cowboys, despite the occasional big hat in downtown Fargo. Also, advocating for MN, WI, and MI as the Northland.
@andyfenelon I love this and makes me homesick… Unsolicited advice: cross country skiing and sauna are the keys to loving the MN winter, not just enduring it. If you’re into bikes, make the leap to skate skiing to get the speed/grace.
