Polytechnic Students Oppose Merger of Polytechnic education with Young India Skill University

#Polytechnic #Students across #Telangana , including #Hyderabad , protesting against the state government’s proposal to merge polytechnic education with #YoungIndiaSkillUniversity (#YISU )

The protests were organised by several student organisations, including the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) and Telangana Polytechnic Joint Action Committee (TPJAC).

Students said the move could reduce opportunities and demanded that the government withdraw the proposal.

The government’s decision to merge polytechnic education with Young India Skill University (YISU) under the Skill, Human Capital and Knowledge Training Initiatives (SHAKTI), formerly the Labour department, has triggered strong opposition from students and the teaching community, who staged dharnas across the state on Tuesday.

Students from various government polytechnic colleges participated in the protests, demanding that polytechnic colleges continue under the existing technical education system and that the SHAKTI policy be withdrawn.

Probe Ordered into Inspector’s Action during #Polytechnic #Students ’ Protest in Mahabubabad - District SP

#Mahabubabad Town Circle Inspector (CI) Raghupathi Reddy has been ordered to stay away from discharging his official duties following widespread outrage over a viral video showing him grabbing two polytechnic students by their throats.

The incident occurred at the Mahabubabad District Collectorate in Telangana. Polytechnic students were staging a protest against the government's decision to merge polytechnic colleges with ITIs under G.O. 97 (Shakti Scheme merger).

As students attempted to march toward the Collectorate building, an scuffle broke out as police tried to block students from entering the premises. SHO (Inspector) Raghupathi Reddy aggressively caught two male students by their necks, choking and pushing them back.

The visuals went viral across social media platforms, drawing sharp criticism from student unions, public organizations, and political leaders who condemned the excessive use of physical force.

Mahabubabad Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Shabarish officially instructed CI Raghupathi Reddy to stay away from active duty while the matter is thoroughly investigated.

A formal probe has been initiated and will be conducted by an officer of DSP rank.
