Pakistan’s Defence Minister just admitted what decades of denial tried to hide that pak chose jihad as strategy n now calls the consequences misfortune n in the same breath claims they’re ready to hit India.

A state that admits decades of outsourcing strategy to proxies doesn’t get to suddenly posture as a conventional powerhouse.

When he says Pakistan is “ready,” what does that mean?

1. Pakistan has gone to the IMF over 20 times. India isn’t negotiating bailout tranches to keep reserves afloat.
2. Pakistan’s GDP hovers around $330–350 billion. India’s is above $3.5 trillion. The fiscal space for sustained conflict isn’t comparable. That’s roughly a 10:1 economic gap.
3. Wrt def budgeting India outspends Pakistan several times over annually n with deeper domestic production capacity.
4. Post 2016 n 2019, India demonstrated calibrated cross-l border response despite nuclear signalling. The old nuclear shadow paralysis doctrine has visibly weakened.

The audacity to think they can even touch us is baffling.

India fields one of the world’s largest standing armies with integrated battle groups designed for rapid mobilisation. The Indian Air Force operates platforms like Rafale with Meteor BVR capability, Su-30 MKI upgrades, S-400 air defence systems.The Indian Navy has aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines, n expanding maritime strike capability Pakistan’s navy is comparatively limited in blue water reach.

The assumption that Washington will step in militarily for Pakistan has no historical basis.

The US aligned with Pakistan in the 1980s to counter the Soviets. It funded it after 2001 to secure Afghan supply routes. When those wars wound down, the money dried up n reimbursements were cut, and pressure followed. There has never been a mutual defence treaty between the two ftw.

Today, US strategic priorities are anchored in the Indo-Pacific, maritime balance against China, critical technologies, and resilient supply chains. In that framework, India occupies structural relevance n Pakistan does not.

In any crisis in here, Washington’s first objective would be containment and de-escalation to avoid nuclear risk not entering a conventional conflict on Islamabad’s behalf.

And on that score, the balance isn’t hard to see.
