@kenduque@MarcusHouse When you let off the pedal, it feels like your engine breaking (because you are), so yeah, instant acceleration but instant variable slowing, so you get much more control than with a manual.
@_chenglou This does solve a problem, but itโs not the entire ocean plastic problem. The interceptors they are placing at the mouth of the rivers miss underwater plastics as well as the micro plastics. We need to keep working on more solutions for these other problems.
@kellsonphilips Iโd say it is normal. Iโve had a desire to work for very small companies to startups. I really dislike large companies and avoid them at all costs.
@monteslu@CuriouslyCory@Apple If Apple actually implemented the proper web API, Iโm not sure what the point of different browsers would be. Sadly they donโt and I think Apple needs some reason to be forced to implement these features, that might be a browser competitor or legislation.
@rxgx Sort of. I still argue that certain state management needs to live outside of react. We donโt use mobx or redux but have a custom rxjs state management that helps us solve our problems. I wouldnโt be able to do it with hooks and using it outside of react would be impossible.
@hankgreen Twitter has already changed, a majority of conversations are hypothetical debates on 'if twitter does this' solely because of the sole board member. A sense of community feels further away now.
@jlongster @maxdeviant +1 induction. Exhaust hood is a must, however, from an air quality perspective, only wall mounted exhausts work well. Almost no way an island exhaust hood is effective, not worth putting it in.
The problem with USB-C is that most cables aren't properly labeled. If a government wants to require devices to use USB-C, then maybe they should mandate proper labeling on cables.
- 3A or 5A?
- 3.1 Gen 1 or 2?
- TB 3 or 4?
- Passive/Active?
USB-C is still a frustrating cable.
@siasl73usa @DanLarge2@OGNovuh@SpaceAbhi@SpaceX Their selling argument is "passengers are able to step out of the spacecraft onto dry land". As if 1000s of people are going to experience this.
I'm sure there are other benefits, but it reads as 'another reason why Boeing is struggling to deliver an operational vehicle.'
@bradwestfall@NerdCowboy@benadam11 I forgot types. CSS doesnโt have good typing like ts or flow does. No one โneedsโ css-in-js, but there is value in it and it has been in prod for over 3 years. It works well for our style of app.
@bradwestfall@NerdCowboy@benadam11 3rd party tool referencing code to track usage? Generated class names prevent inflate your class names to be used beyond styling. So we now have custom class names just for 3rd party selecting. Now we donโt randomly break stuff on down the road.
Colliding was never a problem.
@NerdCowboy@benadam11@bradwestfall Co-located in the same folder is not the same as co-located in the same file.
Reality is, I still prefer having js access to colors.
@benadam11@NerdCowboy@bradwestfall We adopted css-in-js and I prefer it to the alternative for our type of application. Having our style definitions in js and co-locating ideas into single files still beats out className approach imo.
@BenLesh My company has a set pay by job/level. If we think you are a senior and you want to make more money, you have to justify why you are a lead level or higher. So negotiations happy around your skills not your wants.
@engineering_bae Asking others to do an introspection of confidence is quite a trait of confidence in and of itself. No wonder you were asked to write about confidence.
