@JennMGreenberg My wife had just been discussing this. As you mentioned it does not sound like Paul’s voice. The author of Hebrews is writing a tightly organized extensive treatise on why “Jesus is better”. It lacks Paul’s propensity for run on sentences and personalizing his writings.
Key owns all the terrible play and coaching from Thursday and 90% of the comments are snarky. Everybody who watched the game knows how bad the lines played and the game was managed and yet if we make the FG at the end the comments would be much more positive even though it would have not changed how bad we played. I get it That’s what we do as fans, but we all know it’s true.
I get all the anger over that game last night. I dozed off around 3 am and woke up at 6 still ticked. 24 hours later here are the most frustrating aspects of the game:
1. Pre-snap penalties
2. Abysmal performance by O and D lines.
3. Worst grades by returning players vs new players
4. Not blocking the edge rush guy on the blocked FG
5. Game management. The end of game decision to run the clock down and give it to Birr to win it didn’t bother me. He was 3-3 in those situations in his career. What bothered me more is having the ball at the 13 with 2 minutes and not trying to put the ball away with a FD or TD. By running off tackle (which hadn’t worked all night) and knowing Buffs had 3 time outs you were willing to give them the ball with plenty of time to go down and score. If you throw the ball short like they did on 3rd down you’re probably gonna burn more clock and likely would have put the game away.
Final takeaways: the perceived unknowns (QB, WR’s, DB’s) played well. Expected strengths (OL, DL) struggled. This game was the pivot point between good and potentially great season. Even an ugly win would have kept that hope alive. Now I think 7-5 is the top side.
Agreed. I just think it’s always interesting to pull a thread like this and see where it leads. The Hebrew word teivah is only used twice. Once for Noah’s ark and secondly for the basket Moses was placed in. If psalm 132:8 used teivah, a case could be made this also refers to a vessel in which God’s seed was preserved as in a sense was Mary. But the word in Psalm 132 is aron which is used 174 times as in the ark of the covenant which I believe this verse refers to.
Interesting response Amy. And through provoking.
I’ve been seeing Jesus “pop up” so much in OT passages I’ve read many times before. I’ve likened it to the movie “The Sixth Sense” where upon re-watching you say to yourself “wow, that was there all along”.
Jesus opened the scriptures to the disciples of the road to Emmaus starting with Moses and prophets to teach them about Himself.
John the Baptist came in the Spirit and power of Elijah so he in a sense he was predicted. If this happened with Mary (although I don’t see it) it would need to point to her as someone to pray through from what I understand about Catholicism.
@Kelly_Quinlan@AFarrersports I was there and left the game sitting at 3-1 and thinking Bill Lewis was gonna be a great coach for Tech. He went 8-20 after that game and gave way to O’Leary by the end of ‘94.
@Dobby_Bodd Coke and Delta are both Fortune 100 companies, Georgia Power hits hard and I think would have an appeal to local kids. I love Waffle House but Collins took some of the shine off. Any of the other three would be preferable.
I like the gold better than expected. Played it pretty safe out of the gate which is good by me. Not crazy about the black pants but wouldn’t mind if they reintroduced “The Black Watch” jersey from the ‘80’s like this tribute one from a years back matches with gold pants. Just couldn’t wear them for a noon kickoff before November!
@Prophet__Guru@ATRightMovies Never saw this one but watched the original in ‘84 and felt the same way about it. I think I went to see it because Sting was in it but he only got like 7 minutes of screen time! Those who read the books I’m sure it enjoyed it. I never felt connected to any character in the film.
