Not to mention the man voluntarily spent 2 decades of his life living and working among Peru’s poor (see attached photo of his posh bedroom as bishop of Chiclayo.)
There is no human experience that God does not redeem. When lived in union with the passion of the Lord, even suffering can become a path to holiness. The grace that converts and transforms life strengthens us in every trial. It does not point us towards a distant ideal, but towards the encounter with God, who became man out of love. #GeneralAudience #LumenGentium
Good Friday reminds us of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice. May this day further deepen the values of harmony, compassion and forgiveness. May brotherhood and hope guide us all.
Nadie habla de cómo cuanto más te acercas a Dios más emocional te pones.
No porque estes más triste, sino porque Dios te da el regalo de sentir las cosas más profundamente, y eso de verdad es una tremenda bendición.
Today is Maundy Thursday, Holy Thursday, the night of sorrows.
But what makes this such an important day? What happened in that upper room, and in the garden beyond?
It begins with bread & wine & ends with blood-sweat, betrayal, and the binding of the Son of Man
This is the story:
As the sun sets on Jerusalem, the streets are filled with the fragrance of lamb and bitter herbs. It is the night of the Passover, and Jesus gathers with His twelve Apostles in an upper room prepared for the sacred meal.
He knows what this night will bring.
“Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them unto the end.” - John 13,1
During the meal, He takes bread, blesses it, breaks it, and gives it to them, saying:
“Take, eat; this is My Body.” Then He takes a cup of wine and says, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is My Blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” - Matthew 26,26–28
Here, Our Lord institutes the Most Holy Eucharist, giving Himself truly under the appearance of bread and wine.
At the same time, He institutes the sacred priesthood, commanding the Apostles to “do this in memory of Me.”
Then, He adds: "I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
Then, astonishingly, the Master washes the feet of His disciples, even of Judas, teaching them what divine love looks like: humility in service, even to one's betrayer.
"I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them."
After the meal, they sing a hymn and walk out into the cool night air, crossing the Kidron Valley to the Garden of Gethsemane at the foot of the Mount of Olives.
Jesus asks Peter, James, and John to stay with Him while He prays. Then, falling to the ground, He is overcome with sorrow and dread.
On that fateful night in Gethsemane, the weight of the world’s sin fell upon His sacred shoulders.
In the moonlit darkness of the olive grove, He knelt in prayer, His soul crushed beneath the burden of what was to come.
He, the sinless Lamb, saw the full horror of humanity’s wickedness, past, present, and future. He beheld every betrayal, every lie, every act of cruelty, and He took it all upon Himself.
He prays in anguish. His sweat becomes like drops of blood, falling to the ground.
An angel from Heaven comes to comfort our Redeemer in this great agony.
Then, He prays to the Father:
“Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not My will, but Thine be done.” - Luke 22,42
Here, in silent obedience, the Lamb of God accepts the chalice of suffering, the full weight of humanity’s sin.
Peter, James, and John had fell asleep in the Garden of Gethsemane while Jesus was praying.
Jesus comes up to them and says: "Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour?" - Matthew 26,40
Then, the silence of the garden was shattered. A mob, led by Judas, approached with torches and weapons.
“Rabbi!”, the traitor exclaims. Then he kisses Him.
- Mark 14,45
The traitor’s kiss burned like fire upon His cheek.
This is the signal.
The guards seize Jesus.
Peter, in a flash of misguided zeal, draws a sword and cuts off a servant’s ear. But Jesus rebukes him:
“Put your sword into its sheath. Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given Me?” - John 18,11
He heals the man’s ear, even in His arrest, Jesus gives mercy and performs a miracle.
Then, forsaken by His friends, the Good Shepherd is led away by the wolves of the Sanhedrin.
Holy Thursday, Maundy Thursday, is the threshold of the Triduum, the Three Days that changed history forever.
It is a night of contradiction:
>The greatest act of love (the Eucharist) is given while the greatest betrayal (the kiss of Judas) unfolds.
>It is a night of intimacy: Christ washes the feet of His Apostles, but is left alone to suffer in the garden.
>It is the night of the institution of the Eucharist, the priesthood, and the new commandment: “Love one another as I have loved you.”
The Church weeps tonight, not just for what was done to Jesus, but for what we still do. Every time we receive Communion without love, every time we sleep while He asks us to watch, every time we flee in fear or compromise with sin, we echo this night.
Yet Jesus knew all this. And still He gave us His Body. Still He washed our feet. Still He knelt and prayed. Still He said yes to the Cross.
Tonight, let us stay close to Him.
>Adore Him in the Blessed Sacrament, as He awaits His Passion.
>Kneel with Him in Gethsemane, as He wrestles with our sins.
>Mourn with the Church, stripped of her joy, waiting in silence.
For His Love was betrayed tonight, but His Love did not retreat. His Love stood firm. And His Love will conquer.
“Could you not watch one hour with Me?”, the Lord asked - Matthew 26,40 - Tonight, let us answer Him:
"Yes, Lord. I will keep watch."
My favorite part of resurrection is when they went back and didn’t find Jesus where they left him. Don’t let nobody find you where they left you. He got up. You can too. Nothing is too hard for God to fix.
Whether people like it or not, a man sets the tone in a relationship. A woman responds to his energy...his consistency, his intentions, his presence. She reflects what he gives. When a man leads with clarity, love, and respect, he creates a space where a woman can feel safe, soft, and secure. When he leads with confusion, mixed signals, and inconsistency, it puts her in survival mode where guarded, uncertain, and emotionally drained.
Having a man that's in the mood for you everyday. That wants to talk to you everyday no matter how busy he is. A man that craves your touch, a man who cherish your friendship and advice. A man who desires your presence. A man who provides and protects.
I loveeeeee a man you don't have to use your brain with. You can just relax cause he plans, he leads, he figures it out, & he has everything handled so you can just be pretty and exist
