@Crocodylus121 The clue is in the ambiguous, ad speak adjective "affordable" which is intended to deflect scrutiny.
It is NOT public housing. It is a con.
It seems we only build actual public housing for the US military occupation force holding a gun to the head of our so called government.🪃
Requiem for America on the Fourth of July, Chris Hedges, 2026-07-03
"The con of neoliberalism has gutted our democracy and paved the way for fascism."
Chris Hedges writes about the USA. It could just as well be Australia.

Who Do You Serve: Neoliberalism & Oligarchy Through an MMT Lens, Bill Mitchell, podcast, 2026-06-27
Modern Monetary Theory explains how fiat currency works, but NOT whose interests state power serves.
A dialectical understanding of capital is essential.

@DrHananAshrawi Since the latest so-called 'ceasefire', Israel has targeted 11 towns and villages in south Lebanon, with some being struck by Israeli aerial attacks multiple times.
The aim is destruction, dispersal, dispossession and genocide, as any Australian colonial settler would know. 🪃
@PeterCronau Meanwhile nothing is done to redress the decades of grinding exploitation suffered by the "thousands [more like millions] of forgotten disaffected Australians left behind by the mainstream parties" through their neo-liberal 'greed is good' ideology and subservience to the Empire.
@LabAgainstWar USUKA... and, as they say in the US of A: "never give a SUKA an even break". 🪃
Everyone knows it's a scam. Tribute, military bases that threaten our neighbours, a million year dump for US atomic waste and a clutch of clapped out nuclear boats that no one needs.
Inquiry now!
@MaryKostakidis Not quite. This country has been receiving Palestinian refugees as migrants since 1948. They were welcomed and supported in our communities. Eventually they spoke of the horrors that they and their families had experienced. We have known about the genocide in Palestine all along.
@SincDavidson That would upset our colonial settler constitution and may cause a problem or two. Taxation is a better option but hard to do when the miners hold the purse strings.
Revoloution, anyone... No, I thought not. ⚒️
@k_eagar Because 'banning' things should be a last resort.
There are usually better options, the most obvious being a 1950's style 'public housing' sector building and managing good quality, affordable housing everywhere at fair rent capped at 20% of income.
Restore public housing! 🪃
@ok6ixx It depends who makes the rules. Public roads exist to enable people to pass and repass freely, but despite the fact that cars kill more people than pedestrians do, traffic rules favour motor traffic over foot traffic almost everywhere. Maybe Japan is different. 🪃
"The essence of civilizations reveals itself at critical historical junctures. The positions taken by Spain, China, Russia, Türkiye, Italy, and Egypt against the warmongering and crimes of the Zionist regime stem from their deep cultural and historical roots."

There is planning behind the chaos.
The Iran war & Ukraine war are just a part of the US’s ‘Great Oil War’ — with Russia next to be strangled, before turning on China — the aim being to kill off all global competitors.
Watch this most valuable analysis by @richimedhurst showing the long term plan of the new & coming US wars.
