Elevated BLT Sandwich – A Bold Twist on a Classic Favorite
Ingredients
6 slices thick-cut bacon
4 slices rustic sourdough bread (or brioche, ciabatta, or artisan bread)
1–2 ripe heirloom tomatoes, sliced
A handful of butter lettuce or arugula
½ avocado, sliced (optional)
2 tablespoons garlic aioli or good-quality mayo
1 teaspoon olive oil (optional, for toasting bread)
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Cook the Bacon
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Place bacon slices in a single layer and bake for 15–18 minutes, or until crispy. Drain on paper towels.
2. Toast the Bread
Brush both sides of each bread slice with olive oil. Toast in a skillet over medium heat or use a toaster oven until golden and crisp.
3. Prep the Vegetables
Slice tomatoes and sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Wash and dry the lettuce or arugula. Slice avocado if using.
4. Assemble the Sandwich
Spread garlic aioli on the toasted bread. Layer with lettuce, tomato slices, bacon (3 slices per sandwich), and avocado. Season with black pepper and top with the second bread slice.
