From a very newsy Delta interview with @BTUK:
-Delta IS planning business class “plus” seats (with extra space & amenities at the bulkhead) on new A350s & A330s
-Not expecting A321neos with lie flat seats to be certified & flying for “about two more years
-Planning to resume LAX-London “in a few years” … with planes that are 70% premium seats
-And possibly reopen a second Sky Club at LAX

Late last night, a trespasser breached airport security at Denver Int’l Airport, deliberately scaled a perimeter fence, and ran out onto a runway.
The trespasser on the runway was then struck by Frontier Airlines Flight 4345 during takeoff at high speed. The pilot stopped takeoff procedures immediately.
The Frontier plane was then quickly evacuated while law enforcement and firefighters responded.
Preliminary reports are 12 people were hurt, with 5 taken to the hospital.
Local law enforcement handles airport security and is investigating with support from the @FAANews and TSA.
No one should EVER trespass on an airport.

Changing the batteries on an Airbus A320 isn’t just routine maintenance - it’s a critical safety task.
These aircraft batteries provide essential backup power for key systems, including cockpit instruments and communication equipment, especially during electrical failures or engine start. Typically nickel-cadmium, they’re designed for high reliability, rapid discharge, and recharge cycles.
Even in a highly redundant aircraft, the batteries are the last line of defense - making proper maintenance and regular replacement absolutely vital.

The Airbus A330 ranks among the most profitable airliners ever built.
With a 13,450 km range, seating for 250–300 passengers, and exceptionally low operating costs—true of its original CEO model in its era and even more so with today’s NEO version—it keeps selling strongly decades after launch.
It may not have generated the same excitement as the A340 or 747 in their prime, but it quietly delivers serious money. A lot of it.

Tough to watch.
One thing I notice is the Runway Entrance Lights (REL) are illuminated when the truck starts moving. I did a post on RELs earlier. If the lights are on, you’re not supposed to move, even if you have clearance.
They turn off before the jet crosses the taxiway. This is by design. I don’t know the exact logic there, but at SFO the Takeoff Hold Lights (THL) – which are part of the same Runway Status Light system – turn off before a jet landing or departing on a crossing runway has actually crossed your runway. You can get cleared for takeoff slightly before the jet has crossed your runway…which is fine, there is no risk you’ll hit them, as they are on the landing roll moving quickly & will be across your runway long before you get there.
In any event, the red lights are going to play a part here & investigators will have questions. To see them, look in the middle of the runway early in the segment. Watch it a few times & you’ll notice there is a line of them extending across the runway.
$UAL CEO: "The reality is, jet fuel prices have more than doubled in the last three weeks. If prices stayed at this level, it would mean an extra $11B in annual expense just for jet fuel. For perspective, in United’s best year ever, we made less than $5B"
Had QR maintained its stake in CX, we likely would have seen substantial aircraft leases and commercial agreements designed to funnel traffic through the HKG instead of DOH too.
We've been saying for a few weeks that Asia-Europe is the bottleneck & this is probably the biggest move to cover that.
Unlike other carriers, Singapore aren't a few ad hoc flights for the next month, rather large & sustained increases through August. Networks are shifting!!
NEW: In a letter to employees, United CEO Scott Kirby says the airline is prepping for oil to hit $175/barrel &
“doesn't get back down to $100/barrel until the end of 2027.”
United is shaving 3% of off-peak flights - “think redeyes, Tues/Wed/Sat flying” - this spring & summer.
