এটা খুবই দুর্ভাগ্যের এবং গভীর উদ্বেগের বিষয় যে, ভারতের প্রধানমন্ত্রী একটি প্রাকৃতিক বিপর্যয় নিয়ে রাজনীতি করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছেন, কোনো উপযুক্ত অনুসন্ধানের জন্য অপেক্ষা না করেই – তা-ও আবার যখন উত্তরবঙ্গের মানুষ ভয়াবহ বন্যা ও ধসের সঙ্গে যুঝছেন।

যখন সমগ্র স্থানীয় প্রশাসন ও পুলিশ ত্রাণ ও উদ্ধারের কাজে ব্যস্ত হয়ে আছে, তখন বিজেপি নেতারা ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত এলাকায় গিয়েছিলেন বিপুল সংখ্যক গাড়ির কনভয় নিয়ে, কেন্দ্রীয় বাহিনীর নিরাপত্তা নিয়ে এবং স্থানীয় পুলিশ ও প্রশাসনকে কোনো খবর না দিয়ে। রাজ্য প্রশাসন, স্থানীয় পুলিশ বা তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসকে কীভাবে এই ঘটনার জন্য দায়ী করা যাবে?

প্রধানমন্ত্রী তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস এবং পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের ওপর দোষারোপ করেছেন কিছুমাত্র প্রমাণ ছাড়া, আইনানুগ কোনো তদন্ত ছাড়া এবং কোনো প্রশাসনিক রিপোর্ট ছাড়া। এটা শুধু রাজনৈতিক নিম্নতা স্পর্শ করল না, যে সাংবিধানিক নৈতিকতা তুলে ধরতে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শপথ নিয়েছেন, সেই নৈতিকতারও লঙ্ঘন হল। যে কোনো গণতন্ত্রে আইন তার নিজস্ব পথ নেয় এবং কোনো ঘটনার দায় নির্ধারিত হয় যথাযথ প্রক্রিয়ায় - কোনো রাজনৈতিক বেদীর উচ্চতা থেকে করা একটি ট্যুইটের মাধ্যমে নয়।

সংশ্লিষ্ট ঘটনা ঘটেছিল একটি কেন্দ্রে, যেখানে মানুষ নিজেরাই বিজেপির একজন বিধায়ককে নির্বাচন করেছেন। তথাপি এই ঘটনায় তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের তথাকথিত ‘শক্তিমত্তা' দেখায় প্রধানমন্ত্রী দ্বিচারিতা অনুভব করলেন না। এই ধরনের অসার এবং অতি- সরলীকৃত সাধারণীকরণ শুধু অপরিণতই নয়, তা দেশের সর্বোচ্চ পদের সঙ্গে মানানসইও নয়।

যে প্রধানমন্ত্রী মণিপুরে জাতি-হিংসা শুরু হবার ৯৬৪ দিন পরে সেখানে যাওয়ার অবকাশ পেয়েছিলেন, তাঁর কাছ থেকে বাংলার জন্য এই সহসা উদ্বেগ কোনো সমবেদনার পরিচয় নয়। বরঞ্চ, এটাকে সুবিধাবাদী রাজনৈতিক নাট্যের মতো মনে হচ্ছে।

হ্যাঁ, আমরা সবাই দ্বিধাহীনভাবে হিংসার নিন্দা করি। কিন্তু এটা রাজনৈতিক বুক-চাপড়ানোর সময় নয়। এটা সহায়তা ও নিরাময়ের সময়।

এটাও স্পষ্ট যে, বিজেপি সেই ক্লান্তিকর উত্তরবঙ্গ বনাম দক্ষিণবঙ্গের উপাখ্যানে ফিরতে চায়, ভোটের আগে মেরুকরণের আশায়।

স্পষ্ট হয়ে যাক: বাংলা এক – আবেগে, সংস্কৃতিতে, রাজনীতিতে।

প্রধানমন্ত্রীকে বলি: নির্বাচিত রাজ্য সরকারের কথা শুনুন, শুধু নিজের দলের লোকের কথা শুনবেন না। আপনি ভারতের প্রধানমন্ত্রী, কেবল বিজেপির নন। আপনার দায়িত্ব দেশ-নির্মাণ, কাহিনি নির্মাণ নয়।

সঙ্কটের এই মুহূর্তে,আমরা যেন বিভাজন না বাড়াই। আমাদের একত্রিত হতে হবে, দলীয় লাইনের ঊর্ধ্বে মানুষের সেবায় – যে মানুষ এখন আমাদের সেবা সবচেয়ে বেশি চাইছে। রাজনীতি আরেকদিন হোক।

It is unfortunate and deeply concerning that the Prime Minister of India has chosen to politicise a natural disaster without waiting for a proper investigation, especially while people in North Bengal are grappling with the aftermath of devastating floods and landslides.

When the entire local administration and police is engrossed in relief and rescue operations, the BJP leaders chose to go to the affected areas with a large convoy of cars and under security cover of the central forces and that too without any information to local police and administration. How can the state administration , local police or the TMC be blamed for the incident ?

The PM has blamed the TMC and the West Bengal Government outright without a shred of verified evidence, legal inquiry, or administrative report. This is not just a political low, it is a breach of the constitutional ethos the Prime Minister has sworn to uphold. In any democracy, the law must take its own course, and only due process can determine culpability - not a tweet from a political pulpit.

The incident occurred in a constituency where the people themselves have elected a BJP MLA. Yet the Prime Minister sees no contradiction in painting the incident as a reflection of TMC’s so-called “strongmanship.” Such sweeping, unsubstantiated generalisations are not only immature, but also, they are unbecoming of the highest office in the land.

Coming from a Prime Minister who visited Manipur only 964 days after it was engulfed in ethnic violence, the sudden concern for Bengal appears less like empathy and more like opportunistic political theatre.

Yes, we all condemn violence, unequivocally. But this is not the time for partisan chest-thumping. This is a time to help and heal.

It’s also evident that BJP is resorting to the tired North Bengal vs South Bengal narrative, hoping to polarise people ahead of elections. Let us be clear: Bengal is one - emotionally, culturally, and politically.

I urge the Prime Minister: Listen to the elected state government, not just your party colleagues. You are the Prime Minister of India, not just of BJP. Your responsibility lies in nation-building, not narrative-building.

At this critical hour, let us not deepen divides. Let us stand united beyond party lines, to serve the people who need us the most. Let’s leave politics for another day.

Today, the long arm of the law has finally caught up. The Hon'ble Calcutta High Court has held the FRRO (Delhi) detention and deportation order unlawful and directed the immediate repatriation of six people, including the pregnant woman from BIRBHUM, who were labelled “BANGLADESHI MIGRANTS” and expelled.

This judgement lays bare a CRUEL and SYSTEMATIC campaign of harassment aimed at Bengalis by the Bangla-Birodhi Zamindars. We will hold the ones responsible to account, in courts, in public debate and at the polls. The people of Bengal will not tolerate XENOPHOBIA, HUMILIATION, or the POLITICS OF EXCLUSION. Come 2026, those who trafficked in fear and persecution will face a decisive verdict from the electorate.

Justice has begun to be served. Our resolve to protect the dignity, rights and language of the people of Bengal remains unshaken.

আকস্মিক দুর্যোগের আক্রমণে বিপর্যস্ত কলকাতা শহরের ও লাগোয়া কিছু এলাকার পরিস্থিতি স্বাভাবিক করার জন্য আমাদের সহকর্মীরা ও আধিকারিকরা সর্বত্র চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছেন। ডিভিসি-র একতরফা জল ছাড়ায় রাজ্য এমনিতেই প্লাবিত ছিল, নদী, খাল সব টইটম্বুর ছিল। ফারাক্কা ব্যারেজ দিয়ে আসছে বিহার, উত্তরপ্রদেশের প্রচুর জল, সেখানে ড্রেজিং না হওয়ায় সমস্যা তো ছিলই । তার ওপরে এল এই হঠাৎ বিপুল বৃষ্টি। আমি মেয়র, মুখ্যসচিব প্রমুখের মাধ্যমে পরিস্থিতির ওপর নজর রেখেছি, প্রয়োজনীয় নির্দেশ দিচ্ছি।

আমি বলেছি, আজ থেকে সরকারী সব স্কুল ছুটি থাকবে। কলেজ, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়েও আগামী দু-দিন ছুটি। বেসরকারী অফিস গুলি আগামী দু'দিন ওয়ার্ক ফ্রম হোম করুন। সরকারী অফিস-ও দুদিন ওয়ার্ক ফ্রম হোম করবে। মানুষকে বাঁচানোই এখন প্রাথমিক কাজ।

আজ CESC-র অবহেলায় কলকাতায় বিদ্যুৎস্পৃষ্ট হয়ে যাঁরা মারা গেলেন, তাঁদের পরিবারের জন্য আমাদের আন্তরিক সমবেদনা। মৃত্যুর কোনো ক্ষতিপূরণ হয়না, জীবনের কোন বিকল্প হয় না। তবুও আমরা প্রতি পরিবারের একজনের চাকরি নিশ্চিত করব। ক্ষতিপূরণ দিতে বলছি CESC কে-ও। আমি CESC-র সঙ্গে কথা বলেছি। আমাদের আন্তরিক সমবেদনার পাশাপাশি এই ক্ষতিপূরণ-ও পরিবারগুলির প্রাপ্য।

Congratulations to all for crossing the one-crore- mark so quickly!

This unprecedented and spontaneous participation of common men and women of Bengal in this socio- economic development initiative has further strengthened, and added more life to, the prevailing democratic and participatory good governance culture in this State.

I condemn the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill, proposed to be tabled, by the Government of India today. I condemn it as a step towards something that is more than a super- Emergency, a step to end the democratic era of India for ever. This draconian step comes as a death knell for democracy and federalism in India.

To suppress the voting rights of the Indian citizens in the name of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) , this is another super- draconian step by the Centre now.

This Bill now wants to finish the Independence of our Judiciary. What we are witnessing is unprecedented-- the Bill is nothing short of a Hitlerian assault on the very soul of Indian democracy. The Bill seeks to strip the judiciary of its Constitutional role- to take away the power of Courts to adjudicate on matters that lie at the very heart of justice and federal balance. By vesting such powers in partisan hands, the Bill mutilates democracy.

This is not reform. This is regression- towards a system where the law no longer rests with independent Courts but is placed in the hands of vested interests. It is a chilling attempt to establish a rule where judicial scrutiny is silenced, Constitutional safeguards are dismantled , and the people's rights are trampled. This is how authoritarian regimes , even fascist ones in history, consolidated power. It reeks of the very mindset that the world once condemned in the darkest chapters of the 20th century.

To weaken the Courts is to weaken the people. To deny them the right to seek justice is to deny them democracy itself. The bill strikes at the basic structure of the Constitution- federalism, separation of powers, and judicial review- principles that even Parliament cannot override. If allowed to pass, it will be a death warrant for Constitutional governance in India.

We must resist this dangerous overreach. Our Constitution is not the property of those in temporary seats of power. It belongs to the people of India.

The intent of the Bill is to consolidate a system of one man- one- party- one Government. The Bill tramples upon the basic structure of the Constitution.

The Bill seeks to empower the Union to intrude upon the mandate of the people, handing sweeping powers to unelected authorities ( ED, CBI- whom Supreme Court has described as ' caged parrots') to interfere in the functioning of elected State governments. It is a step to empower the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister in a sinister manner at the expense of the basic principles of our Constitution.

The Bill must be resisted at any cost! Democracy must be saved at this moment! The people will not forgive any attempt to take away their Courts, their rights, and their democracy.

The Union Government, despite having the support of the Opposition parties and the entire nation, still lacks the courage to reclaim PoJK. It beats its chest with hollow rhetoric, but when it comes to defending India’s sovereignty, protecting our borders and acting firmly against our enemies, it shows no real resolve.

Instead of fulfilling its constitutional responsibility, this government is solely interested in amassing POWER, WEALTH AND CONTROL WITHOUT ANY ACCOUNTABILITY.

We strongly condemn this authoritarian attitude and oppose the introduction of this DRACONIAN CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT BILL. The Government of India, instead of providing relief to the people and working for the genuine development of farmers, workers and the poor, has completely failed to uphold its duty of safeguarding the sovereignty of the nation.

Having failed in its attempt to misuse the EC to implement SIR, the government has now activated another “E” — ED - to bring in laws that target opposition leaders, crush democracy and manipulate the people’s mandate by toppling State Govts.

This government has proven itself to be anti-people, anti-farmer, anti-poor, anti-SC, anti-ST, anti-OBC, anti FEDERAL and above all ANTI INDIA.

One vote to the BJP is nothing less than SELLING THE SOUL OF INDIA. It is selling the Constitution of our country and allowing INDIA to be run as private property in the hands of INCOMPETENT OBSESSIVE TYRANTS!

The INDIA built on the ideals of GANDHI and AMBEDKAR will not surrender its soul to dictators and power-hungry rulers.

আজ ধনধান্য প্রেক্ষাগৃহে দ্বাদশ কন্যাশ্রী দিবস উদ্‌যাপনের মঞ্চে আমি উপস্থিত ছিলাম। সারা রাজ্যের থেকে অনেক ছাত্রছাত্রী, শিক্ষক-শিক্ষিকা সেখানে এসেছিলেন। সব জেলা থেকেও আমার অনেক কন্যাশ্রী মেয়ে, শিক্ষক-শিক্ষিকা, আধিকারিকরা ভার্চুয়ালি এই অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন। তাঁদের সকলকে অনেক অনেক শুভেচ্ছা। অনেক শিক্ষক-শিক্ষিকা ও ছাত্রছাত্রীকে আজকে মঞ্চ থেকে তাঁদের অবদান ও সাফল্যের জন্য সম্মানিতও করা হল। তাঁদের সম্মান জানাতে পেরে আমরা গর্বিত।

আর একটা বড় কাজের ঘোষণাও আমরা আজকে ওখান থেকে করলাম। আমাদের আর এক বিশ্বজয়ী প্রকল্প ‘সবুজসাথী’-র ফেজ ১১ -এর সাইকেল দেবার কাজ আমরা শুরু করব। এর আওতায় ২০২৫ সালে ক্লাস ৯-এ পড়ে এমন সাড়ে ১২ লক্ষ ছাত্রছাত্রী সাইকেল পাবে। এর জন্য আমাদের খরচ হবে ৫২৫ কোটি টাকা। ডিস্ট্রিবিউশন এই মাসের শেষ থেকেই শুরু হয়ে যাবে। আমি আমার সকল ছাত্র-ছাত্রীকে জানাই আমার আন্তরিক অভিনন্দন। এ প্রসঙ্গে বলি, ‘সবুজসাথী’ চালু হবার পর থেকে এখনো পর্যন্ত আমরা মোট ১ কোটি ৩৮ লক্ষেরও বেশী ছাত্রছাত্রীকে সাইকেল দিয়েছি। খরচ হয়েছে ৪ হাজার ৮০০ কোটি টাকা।

কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্প বিশ্বজয়ী। ৬২টি দেশের বহু শত প্রকল্পের মধ্যে এটা প্রথম স্থান অধিকার করে United Nations Public Service Award পেয়েছে। আজও ভার্চুয়ালি আমাদের কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্পের প্রশংসা করেছেন ইউনিসেফ ইন্ডিয়ার প্রতিনিধি সিনথিয়া ম্যাক্যাফ্রি। বাংলার মেয়েদের হাতে আমরা এখনো পর্যন্ত তুলে দিয়েছি সাড়ে ১৭ হাজার কোটি টাকা। এখন আমাদের রাজ্যে ৯৩ লক্ষের বেশি ‘কন্যাশ্রী’।

এটা অত্যন্ত আনন্দের, এই প্রকল্প চালু করার ফলে অনেক বেশি সংখ্যক মেয়ে এখন স্কুলে পড়াশোনা করছে। মেয়েদের মধ্যে স্কুল ড্রপ আউটের সংখ্যা এই জন্য আমরা আগের জমানার তুলনায় উল্লেখযোগ্য ভাবে কমাতে পেরেছি। প্রাইমারীতে ২০১১-১২ সালে মেয়েদের মধ্যে ড্রপ আউট ছিল ৩.৬০% ; ২০২৩-২৪ - এ তা হয়েছে ০%। একজনও ড্রপ আউট নেই। আপার প্রাইমারীতে মেয়েদের মধ্যে ২০১১-১২-তে ড্রপ আউট ছিল ৪.৫৭% ; ২০২৩-২৪ – এ সেটাও হয়েছে ০%। একজনও ড্রপ আউট নেই। সেকেন্ডারীতে ২০১১-১২ সালে মেয়েদের মধ্যে ড্রপ আউট ছিল ১৬.৩২% ; ২০২৩-২৪ – এ কমে হয়েছে ২.৯%। হায়ার সেকেন্ডারীতে ২০১১-১২ সালে মেয়েদের মধ্যে ড্রপ আউট ছিল ১৫.৪১% ; ২০২৩-২৪ – এ সেটাই অনেকটা কমে হয়েছে ৩.১৭%।

আগামী কাল স্বাধীনতা দিবস। আমি মনে করি সমাজ সত্যিকারের স্বাধীন তখনই হয় যখন সেই সমাজের নারীরা, কারো মুখাপেক্ষী না হয়ে, নিজেদের ভাগ্য নিজেরাই জয় করার ক্ষমতা অর্জন করে।

আমার প্রিয় ‘কন্যশ্রী’রা - তোমরা ভালো করে পড়াশোনা করে এগিয়ে যাও। মাথা নত না করে, কারও দ্বারস্থ না হয়ে জীবন যুদ্ধে জয়ী হও। তোমরা সাহসী হও, নির্ভীক হও, বীর তনয়া হও, বিশ্বজয়ী হও।

জয় হিন্দ! জয় বাংলা!

The EC has stated that the voter lists across various states on the basis of which the GENERAL ELECTIONS were held barely a year ago in 2024 are FAULTY and riddled with IRREGULARITIES.

If that is indeed the case, and if the GoI agrees with the EC’s assessment, then the first step towards conducting a genuine SIR and STANDING ON MORAL HIGH GROUND is the
IMMEDIATE DISSOLUTION OF LOK SABHA. If one truly supports the idea of SIR, then as per the EC’s own statement - THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY HAVE BEEN BETRAYED.

Also, If the new CEC is truly as competent as claimed, then the SIR should be implemented across the country, not selectively in poll-bound states.
