#MedTwitter After some time away to recollect myself from #SOAP2023, I got into a Transitional Year program with hoping to #Match2024. S/O and I will live apart, but weโll make it through. Money will be tight paying two rents, but Iโll try my hardest to return.
After this round, Iโll have to live apart from my S/O, while I try to transfer or re-enter the Match in 2024. We loathe this, but have no other viable option. #SOAP2023#UNMATCHED
Same feelings as last year: loss, confusion, disillusion. Couldnโt give more than 3-word responses to my advisor. They said โitโs just a year [from my spouse]โ & โyouโll be worse off if you donโt,โ but I canโt agree with that when sheโs crying for me.
#SOAP2023#UNMATCHED
I hope others are having better luck than me. S/O and I are exploring options to afford moving, but Iโm not sure where weโre going at this point.
#SOAP23#UNMATCHED
Congratulations to all who matched this cycle! Sadly, I did not. Disbelief hit my S/O and family hard, but I hope to make it through the SOAP for them.
#Match2023
I hope #match2023 ends well at this point. Barely making ends meet; guiltโs made me lose my appetite; and my wifeโs suspected my mental health slipping. I knew it was half-way into this cycle, but I donโt want them to worry.
@Least_ordinary 4th year of med school: I was the last one doing CPR on an infant (they just turned 1 year old). I held back my tears, as the mother said her goodbyes. I didnโt remember the 90 min drive home, but when my wife asked if I was okay, all I said was โIโm fineโ.
@awsumpowers To express empathy, WORDING IS KEY! Cancer is not โgoodโ! Cancer itself & most treatments for it put an immense toll on all aspects of oneโs life.
